  1. Yes, but it took a MIKE TROUT for him to do so... That being said, I do think Albert will come around to last years numbers. It was May when he took off last year, I believe. He'll warm up. No reason to change lineup that much yet.
  2. I dunno. They have had a shi##y bullpen for quite some time.
  3. Hey Scotty, do you post your thoughts on Padres prospects anywhere? I too am Angels fan with a soft spot in my heart for the Padres & I'd love to see what you think of theit prospects. Thank you in advance
  4. I'd rather talk to Padres about Shields than Samardzija. 3/63mil...and perhaps getting a better pitcher
  5. Padres should look to get Trumbo for cheap. They need HR pop in that ballpark. Socal roots, etc etc
  6. I'm surprised that no one has mentioned ( & I apologize if someone has) the similarities of Heyward and Garret Anderson. Take a look at Garrett's #'s before he entered his prime and how he developed HR power during this time. Between the ages of 26-32, his hr's really escalated. http://m.bbref.com/m?p=XXplayersXXaXXanderga01-bat.shtml&t=all_standard_batting I can see Heyward following the same path, especially as he matures as a hitter.
  7. I understand that point, Stradling. My counter point in this is for people or vot ers who say Donaldson deserves it over Trout because Blue Jays made playoffs. Well, then Arrieta's team made playoffs and Harper's did not. Last year Kershaw won. And Gia Stanton had a helluva year with the bat. I'm not sure what your take was then, but just pointing it out. Good baseball discussion btw all
  8. Well, I wouldn't dismiss ERA completely as luck but read this from fangraphs and maybe you will see just how AMAZING Arrieta's season was, especially the 2nd half, even sabermetrically. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/jake-arrietas-argument-for-the-best-season-half-ever/ By the way, I'm not arguing that Harper didn't have an amazing season, but I do think Arrieta had just as dominant season pitching wise ( or at least close) and should be considered for MVP.
  9. Jake Arrieta only set a record for the lowest ERA ever for the 2nd half of a season, but it's not close?
  10. I get that, but it's tough to use that argument in this case, after Kershaw won MVP just last year. If people say, Well Donaldson should win cuz his team went to the playoffs & Trout & Angels did not. Same could be said for Greinke/Arrieta vs Harper. Both pitchers stats were just as dominant for pitching as Harper's was for hitting.
  11. Enjoy http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2015/10/12/9512809/astros-hank-conger-chappelles-show-robot-mlb-playoffs
  12. Joe Smith had a bad game. That doesn't happen very often. Chuck it in the F it bucket and move on to next game. That bring said, I want Hogan as 3rd base coach. At least his windmill action at 3rd would fire the crowd up.
  13. Look what happens when the players get the scouting reports directly!! Validation! But good to see this team finally playing up to it's potential.
  14. Off topic... But Chuck, you look like Trevor Hoffman in your profile pic there...
  15. Isn't this what Trumbo always does in the 1st half of the year?
  16. ARE YOU READY FOR THE SUMMER??!! ARE YOU READY FOR THE GOOD TIMES???!!
  17. I wonder what it would take to get Carlos Quentin from Padres to play DH. He still has good pop, he just can't stay healthy playing OF. Which if he played with Angels... He never would have too.
  18. 100% agree. While i still think this season is not lost, i think it's time we find out about Richards. He's a starter and for Mike to be dickin around with him out of the pen while pitching a journeyman like Jerome is just stupid. Garrett has to develop and out of the pen ain't it man. Scoscia has screwed this up royally.
  19. Well... he's not wrong in what he said. Dodgers are a soft team. all talk, no action. After the Greinke debacle and all the kemp "bravado" , they responded by getting swept at home by the Padres...
