I forgot I got to see Jose Fernandez pitch a few years back when I went to visit NY at CitiField. He shut them down. God, he was awesome. The over pouring amount of love from his teammates show how good of a person this kid was. Anyways, just wanted to share this pic with you all of the great Jose Fernandez. RIP

So sad. Wife pregnant too? Ugh. RIP Jose

Loving breaking the Astros hearts after losing some brutal games to them last year.

To be fair to those folks (Dave Cameron comes to mind), 2015 looked like the huge breakthrough that everyone was expecting, and 2016 is an unexpectedly huge drop-off. A repeat of 2015 might not have been reasonable, but I would have thought something like .290+/.950 with 40ish HR should be within his grasp.
Even though I'm not really in the Harper Butthurt crowd, I have a hard time rooting for this guy and kind of enjoy a touch of schadenfreude at his woes.
Plus 2 for schadenfreude

And some thought he was better than Trout based off one great season. Consistency is key

Check out Ryan Schimpf of the Padres

.229 BA but a .919 ops! Walks well & out of his 56 hits, 39 have been for extra bases, including 19 homeruns. This, in approximately 280 AB's. Started off horrible in June but has really mashed since then. Languished in minors for 8 years before getting his shot. Good for him.

I'm sorry but Scott Servais has to be the worst manager in baseball .
I'm sorry but this may be the dumbest thing you have said.

Ahhh... You are correct...

Ken Rosenthal reporting that Puig has been placed on trade waivers...Do Angels put in a claim?

The Padres are going all in this year on International signings...

Wow... Shots fired!

Great thread reading all these memories from every one's perspective.
So many games to remember... The GA 10 RBI game, Torii Hunter 3 HR game vs Padres, Clinching playoff spot & the whole team going out to the outfield wall to Adenhart's picture... That was chilling.
I remember a 2001 game that I attended vs Yankees where Eck got a game winning hit vs Rivera. Eck battled and lifted a little liner to right to win. Place went nuts. Good times

If we want to take a chance on a firmer #1 pick, Angels should pick up Brian Matusz, who was DFA'd by Cubs. Not sure how he would fare as a starter but he was decent pitching in relief for Orioles until this season. Can't be worse than some of the bullpen guys we have now...

When did our first round pick from last year join the organizational PR department?
I like that Taylor is really into this draft. I feel like it means he's really dedicated to his craft.

A -- Relax...
B -- You're the last person to EVER tell ANYONE not to toot their own horn .. So can it...
C -- I've been right A LOT... All the way back to the AOL Angels board. I could spend a lot of time tooting my horn right now or you can ask Tank or Brian or anyone who remembers when I did exactly what you were do now. CBS Sportsline, Real Fans Networks, Stats Inc... I penned stories for each of those sites... writing articles about Angels prospects was my thing.. you should have seen my rantings about the Angels and their piss poor usage of pitchers and extreme pitcher abuse and injury record... So, while you got your panties into a bunch over my reminding you of your Cron talk.. You should have seen how much I liked Keith Luuloa....
Anyway.... I made a joke -- because depending on which version of Cron you were comping him to -- it could be very good or very bad. The really funny thing is .. I think he's a workable player even as a Shea clone and I WISH he actually could tap into that power and be the guy you thought he would grow into.
I seriously want someone to explain to me how someone with his power fails to translate it into games... its nutty.
I want to say you also posted on the Angels Scout forum as well...

Trout himself said he could have laid out but he was worried it would get past him. I'll trust his judgement on it over people here. Putting it on Trout there seems silly.

95 pitches...71 for strikes...pitching like a boss... Let him keep going. He's killing it...
Great game, Shoe. Please come out like that next game. We need you.

Morin needs to be moved to non high leverage situations until he rights the ship.

Chickenshit for the Rangers to throw at him in last game of the season series. Pussies. I hope Angels drill Odor for last years dirty slide.
