  1. And no one thought they would be talking about Pujols like this now. I’m too lazy to search and see if you ever had anything positive to say about him but I think most were in agreement that the first 5 years would be really good. We are no longer in the steroid/ped era and players decline earlier. Trout is only 29 but he started logging mlb mileage on his body at 19. I don’t know if he’ll decline but the odds are he will at around 35. Then there is 5 more years or so on the contract to see how low will he go. If he declines like Pujols did I guarantee that even though he will be an all time great angel there will be calls for him to move aside, just like Pujols.
  2. Corrected trouts age but can’t tell what you are arguing about. Are you telling that NO ONE else on these boards has concerns that in 5-6 years they will be talking about trout like they talk about Pujols now? If you are arguing that he was the best offensive player, please give stats of a guy with a comparable decade to Pujols.
  3. And who doubles down on that by signing a 28 year old to a 12 year deal. Remember Pujols was mike trout 10 years ago. The unquestioned best offensive player in the game.
  4. Or all of the lineup except the top three. Look at those averages. Barf!! So far glad the angels didn’t empty what’s left of the farm for this guy.
  5. They need to continue to sit Albert and play Walsh everyday at first and dh Ohtani everyday. You gotta see if Ohtani can figure it out and give Walsh the experience he needs. They are the future, Albert is the past.
  6. Can anyone think of a another sure fire hall of famer who had a more forgetful last 10 years than Pujols?
  7. Has having a kid ever ruined a baseball career? I know Vlad says no.....
  8. While once a forgone conclusion, anyone else wondering if Pujols will pass Mays this season?
  9. He is 3 Gidp away from 400 and will be 50! Ahead of second place Ripken.
  10. My biggest point is that unless they can buy out Pujols and or Upton it is difficult to trade for top line talent that will cost significant money. I also don't really look at other Angels websites so not really sure why you are so defensive about my opinion. Goodwins "career" year has been a 2 WAR year. You potentially can try to bundle all these guys together to pick up something but they might be better off keeping the Fletchers, Goodwins becuase they have had value at minimal cost and let Rengifo and Adell play daily for experience. The next year to sign big money agents has to be 2022.
  11. I'll ask the question again. As the season spirals our of control does anyone think Trout could think of his newborn at home and say it's just not worth it anymore and opt out for the rest of the season. Scrub this year, come back strong next year.
  12. I do love trade value threads. Everyone seems to overvalue their assests. I know Fletcher is a popular player here but look at his stats. Solid 285-290 but doesn't steal bases, no power. He is a utility infielder. Check out Goodwins career stats. He had a good year here last year but was it a flash in the pan? He is a career 250 hitter with only modest power. The Angels think so highly of him that they still give Upton a chance to play over him. Adell has value to the organization as a very young cost controlled asset. I doubt given the 120 million on 4 players for next year they are looking to give away a top prospect who is cheap for anything that is going to cost a lot of money. Maybe next year. The other young prospects aroung (Ward, Walsh) consistently get called crappy around here but people seem to think they can attract top tier talent elsewhere. I particularly loved the statement above that the Angels should give Pujols to the Cardinals if they pay even a small part of his salary. Lets get this straight: no one is paying anything to get Pujols. The Angels would have to pay his contract AND probably give up a prospect to get rid of Pujols. PUjols said FU to the Cardinals when he left and the Cardinals have been breathing a 9 years sigh of relief that they did not get stuck with his disasterous contract. It will be very curious in 5-6 years to see if the very unpopular thought (and rightfully so) of trading Trout a few years ago to completely replenish the farm system will end up looking like the right move to have made.
  13. I’ve always felt that managers in general are overrated as to their effect. Maddon may be the most recent grossly overrated manager. Ultimately the manager is a product of the talent. They might try to reply that talent in more favorable ways but I think this affects less games than thought. Too much blame for losing. Too much credit for winning. Ausmus, Maddon, Scioscia would have the same results with this team.
  14. Rendon with higher ops than trout now. Impressive given the slow start.
  15. If you are Trout and this season continues to spira and you have a new baby at home with Covid swirling around would you consider just opting out at some point?
  16. The only thing I would change would be to allow ties. Not sure why that is such a big issue, particularly in a 162 game season. End the game after 12. At least both teams know when the end is and can deploy players accordingly instead of having to worry about 17 innings. Also hate seeing which team has the luckiest left fielder that was brought in to pitch.
  17. Ok. Any talk of Bregman as mvp is officially over. I declare myself wrong for even considering it. I couldn’t imagine any scenario where in a World Series game any team in any situation would walk anybody with two outs to pitch to mike trout. Alex Bregman—- epic fail.
  18. When the angels can’t get Rendon for 3/45 they will panic and extend Pujols for his “clubhouse leadership”.
  19. How can going to a team that has unarguably the best player in the game be considered a challenge. The have trout and lots of payroll flexibility. If I think nothing else about maddons managing skills he sees opportunity. While he starting at the rays he also probably understood that when he took them over they were creating a loaded farm system due to the years of suckage. Everyone knew that the cubs were turnkey when he joined, despite the World Series I think some may consider the lack of another a bit of a disappointment considering they were supposed to be a big dynasty. The angels job seems pretty attractive for anybody who wants to win.
  20. Again. My point proven. Why is this even an argument anymore. Jeff Fletcher already indicated that Trout has all but won it. Go place your bet and enjoy the inside betting info he provides.
  21. Yes I do. Was that supposed to be an insult? Is that your thing, run around and insult anyone who has an opinion? psychologically speaking that behavior is usually a defense mechanism in people with poor self esteem.
