  1. After seeing what the Cardinals did to the Cubs this weekend where they go into their biggest rivals house and beat them senseless, I thought about how fun it must be to have that storied of a rivalry that it makes that type of weekend that much more important as a Cardinals or on the other side devastating to a Cubs fan. The Red Sox and yankees have a rivalry like that. Who is the Angels biggest rival? I know that they are a newer franchise and don't have 100 years of hatred to fall back on but still.... Do they really even have one?
  2. Funny that we refer to WAR as a "statistic" when on two different websites they can have such different numbers.
  3. The last part was actually a joke....
  4. He’s due for tommy john. The angels should sign him immediately after the Season and send him for surgery. Save the really, really heartbreak when it happens mid season and costs two years.
  5. There is an interview on mlb.com with Albert. The most frightening thing he said was how happy he was about how healthy he was this year. That means this is the absolute best he’s got saying he’s totally healthy. Oh oh yeah and he claimed that he is responsible solely for mike trouts super powers....
  6. Obviously this doesn’t reflect his career but look around this year. Not that tough to find .250 hitters with 20hr. Most of them can run too and maybe even play above average defense. I personally am devaluing home run numbers this year. When the mlb record will be beat by 10% there is something up.
  7. I do have to admit though. Some of the younger guys were given some opportunities and failed miserably. Part of the talk the last year or two has been the improved farm system. So far it’s epic fail which portends a poor future. If the farm system fails to produce, the bad free agent signings get magnified. The hope was that a young kid would step up and perform making Pujols an expensive late inning home run threat.
  8. You forgot that for worse or worse Pujols is indispensable too.
  9. Someone help me out here. Wasn’t there a team a while back that had a generational talent for 11 years. They were unable to sign him as he signed with someone else who offered a too long, too expensive deal to watch him break down and fail. I hope the angels didn’t do that with Trout. Any remember what team that was? and I don’t think the angels made a mistake to sign but rarely have these 10+ year deals made sense in the end.
  10. Yup. Buy high and sell low is the key to life all...
  11. That is what I am trying to argue here but it always come back to ”but he has the highest WAR therefore he’s the most valuable” (I’m not technologically savvy enough to put a gif in but picture a red neck Hoosier saying that (or Aaron judge)) i think a rational fan could say hey Alex Bregman has significant value to a good team, perhaps he should be considered in the conversation for mvp.
  12. Actually which situation would you rather do if you were a gm: 1. Replace GEORGE springer in centerfield with mike trout. Or 2. Replace andrelton Simmons with Alex Bregman. Which team ram got better?
  13. Then my argument becomes (again) why have idiotic sportswriters vote on it. Just hand it to the guy with the highest WAR. By everyone’s argument here it seems that is all that matters. The question then becomes that if you give sportswriters a pair of numbers, will they be able to tell which one is bigger?
  14. That’s why they have silver slugger awards. For the best offensive player at each position. again The problem of “value”. If we use the war numbers inappropriately and subtract trout, the angels still suck. If you remove Bregman, suddenly the astros might be in a wild card fight. Who provided more value to their team?
  15. I guess I don’t get how an unbiased person can’t even consider the possibility. Bregman played more games st more positions covering for multiple injured people. He will have more hits, doubles, walks, less strikeouts, and as of right now a higher batting average. trout just has more homers and therefore higher ops. If Bregman finishes strong and closes the war gap an argument needs to at least be considered and not panned. But no one here will consider a rational argument.
  16. Hahahahahahahaha only 6 more till 400 gidp. Best ever.... you you can only laugh at this point.
  17. Don’t you just bask in the glow of watching the best person ever at doing something? Alberts DP record may become one of the untouchables as he piles on for two more years.
  18. Actually aren't you glad to not be in a pennant race or wild card chase. Look at the NL central. Always scoreboard watching and worrying about your team because every game counts. How stressful!!! Isn't nice to just be able to relax and watch the team with no stress..... Who needs that?!?
  19. who cares about the speed. If he can still hit .300 with 50 home runs he can get stuck in right field His value is really in his hitting.
  20. The concern for the future isn’t the WAR pattern. It’s the number of missed games. Let’s face it, he’s starting to get banged up, all these little things start to wear down a player.
  21. If you have two once in a generation players on your roster at the same time, are they still once in a generation?
