    But seriously, thanks for a very good writeup @Angelsjunky. Most logical people saw this as a transition year and with that mindset there has been a ton of improvement. Everyone honestly just saw contention within reach and hit the panic button when we fell out of it. Next year is definitely the make-or-break year in my opinion. The young talent is trending up and we are one league-average rotation away from being a playoff contender.

    Oliver Ortega was called up to Mobile. This guy can see himself on a few top 10 prospect lists from our organization with the year he has been having. 94.1 IP, 121 K, 3.34 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, .198 AVG against Glaser has been high on him all year and is apparently sitting in the mid 90's this season with a plus curve after apparently working around 90-92 last year.

    To be fair, Machado was not born and raised in Chicago but in Florida. Cole was born and raised in Newport Beach, went to high school at Orange Lutheran then college at UCLA. Obviously, this does not mean he will sign with us. I am just pointing out the circumstances could not be any more different and whatever the front office thinks may help no matter how miniscule, I say go for it.
