  1. This is a question related to GMs and why they make trades.  Obviously they want to improve their ballclub.  But it seems like guys like Dipoto like the attention that comes with always being in the headlines and doing all these little random moves like swapping minor league pitchers.  Then after they make the trade they will get on MLB network and fire up that hot Stove or High Heat with Russo to talk about the trade.  Does Dipoto and other GMs like the attention that comes with making a trade? Do they want to try to show everyone how smart they are?

  2. Can we discuss this a bit. I'd like to hear from the heavy hitters and contrarians too (Straddling, notti____)

Does this truly exist? Is there some magical potion because Jonny Gomes puts a whoopie cushion on someone's chair in the clubhouse? How do we know these guys exist and to what extent they really contribute? None of us walk have access to a clubhouse.

Sure theres bad environments like WAS last year. But Jonny Gomes dancing around to Miley Cyrus isn't making Matt Williams manage his bullpen better. Talent trumps all.

If this clubhouse guy crap exists, what it worth?

  3. Remember this one?

When I started watching sports 40 something years ago there were certain things you didn't do because there was a consequence for it. You didn't run certain routes over the middle, you didn't go weak for a layup, you didn't crowd the plate, and you didn't stay planted at 2nd base because you knew the runner couldn't go back to his dugout if he let you do a pirouette and turn a pretty double play. I'm not saying it was right or wrong, just the reality of the game. I personally hate overreacting to every incident. I'd prefer to let each play stand on it's own merit and let the players decide what can and can't be tolerated in the game.

I don't want to get old :(. I'm hanging onto my 20s for deer life.

Back to the slide. An underrated part of the play was the crappy flip to 2nd by Murphy. Hung Tejada out to dry and "pulled him" out of range of the neighborhood play. A better, more crisp flip and Tejada isn't set up to be bulldozed like that, and they possibly turn the DP.
