When he was first drafted, Andrew Ray had some of the best batting cage power that I'd seen in a while. Last year was the first year that he finally put it into play during a game, and it showed. However, he really needs to cut down on his strikeouts. In his career, he has struck out nearly 30% of the time. We had a discussion about including him in the list in the 40-50 category, but ultimately other players beat him out. He would be in our keep an eye on category if we included that this year.

He's got to figure out the strike zone before he gets a spot on the list. He guesses too much at the plate, walked 9 times vs. 93 strikeouts. Virtually no speed, not the best defender. Swing and hope he makes good contact kinda of guy as of now. Trouble recognizing good offspeed pitches. Sets dead red fastball.

But it is weird in that Brogna has spent almost his entire post-playing career coaching high school football and basketball and stuff. He spent a year managing in minor league baseball, but for the most part he’s been a multi-sport journeyman coach, making tons of stops. The lack of obvious hitting coach bona fides and the fact that he’s been mostly away from the game for a decade plus is what makes this weird."
