Rico Brogna joining the Angels' coaching staff?

Heard that former Mets first baseman Rico Brogna is close to joining Angels staff, possibly as assistant hitting coach.

In 2010 he managed the Mobile BayBears, the Arizona Diamondbacks Double-A minor league affiliate

I don't think he's been as "away from the game" as that article claims though. He's apparently been scouting for the Rays over the past few years as well.

There wouldn't be much I wouldn't pay to have Dave Duncan instructing pitchers and coaches on this team.  The man is a miracle worker.  See Joel Pineiro, Kyle Lohse, Jake Westbrook.

The Angels have several minor league coaching positions open. Brogna may end up as hitting coach on one of the minor league teams.
