  1. Looking at the early returns... glad I'm not alone in thinking that MLB.com's answer is crazy.
  2. MLB.com provided their own answer in this article: https://www.mlb.com/news/each-mlb-team-biggest-offseason-acquisition. I won't bias this poll, but let's just say I vehemently disagree with their selection. What would you say is the Angels' biggest acquisition so far this offseason?
  3. I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion but I... don't hate this deal at $2.5M (if that's what we're paying). Minasian just took the job recently. He hasn't had the opportunity to build out his team, create a long-term vision, or really even get to know the team's prospects. What Minasian is doing is playing a long game. Next year's FA class is absolutely stacked, with a ton of high-end starting pitching and four amazing shortstops in the prime of their careers. All of these one year deals, plus the Pujols $30M coming off the books, is going to create a TON of flexibility for Minasian and his team to formulate and implement a plan. I am sensitive to the fear of a decline starting for Trout, but I think our window runs another five years. I'll reserve judgement and will rain the hate down on Minasian if we're still in this same place a year from now. But something tells me that the 2022 Angels are going to look MUCH better. Assuming we have baseball in 2022.
  4. The Mets fired Porter by the time we woke up here on the East Coast. I expect the Angels will have done the same by early tomorrow morning. And deservedly so. Not much evidence is needed when there is this much real-time corroboration, text message evidence, and shirtless photos received by multiple female reporters. What more do you need to discover? The biggest winner in this fiasco: Rachel Luba.
  5. I second the motion. The O's are taking Santander to arbitration but whether he ends up at $2.1M or $2.4M (or somewhere in between in a settlement) he'll be their fourth highest paid player. It's his first Arb year. Maybe the O's are looking to dump his salary too? If we were to get Santander that would open up Marsh or Adell to be traded for an ace pitcher. Santander is waaaaaay underrated due to playing in an anonymous market. If he was a Yankee he'd be a household name.
  6. I assume this will be a pure salary dump with nothing of value headed back to Baltimore. If so, fine, I guess... but Alex Cobb is not the answer.
  7. Nice little pickup. Not earth-shattering, but good. Junior Guerra has been consistent and effective for years. Underrated.
  8. Say what you will, this is a gutsy article for Torres to write. She's going waaaaaaaaay out on a limb here.
  9. Not only 4 minor leaguers, but the Yankees' #15, 19, 21 prospects and a guy that isn't even in their top 30. And the Yankees minor league system isn't too much better than ours. This would be like us getting Taillon for four guys most of us have never heard of.
  10. MLB Trade Rumors predicted 2 years/ $18M. What a great signing.
  11. A lot of you guys are not answering the question of this thread: guys that you were "meh" on that turned out pretty good. Mike Trout? Torii Hunter? GTFO. The correct answer is: Shigetoshi Hasegawa. Acquired from Japan. Inspired a lot of "meh". Pretty good set up man. Prettay, prettay, prettay good.
  12. Well that sucks. 2021 is picking up right where 2020 left off. More bad news. I'll really miss Victor Rojas calling games for the Angels. I valued his ability to make the games entertaining, even when the team wasn't playing well. And more importantly: I valued that he was blunt and called out the team when it wasn't playing well. More of that, please, when they recruit a successor. Thank you to Victor Rojas for 11 memorable years.
  13. D. What is the difference between $200M and $500M? With either one you are set for life as is your entire family. Truly, what are you going to do with the other $300M?
  14. Holy Hell, Random Angels Guy! Bauer calls a random Angels fan (not truly random, I'm sure he put in for this somehow) and asks him to make a pitch for Bauer to come to Anaheim. The guy, surprisingly, makes a REALLY GOOD pitch. Seriously, Arte needs to get this guy on retainer and have him do video calls with Sonny Gray, German Marquez, and any potential free agent signees. Impressive... couldn't have done it better myself!
  15. My favorite part of that Grand Slam was seeing the exodus of Dodger fans before the next at bat was even started. Thousands of dejected Dodger Fans streaming toward the exits. Can there be a better sight in baseball?
  16. Howie is one of my all time favorite Angels. Always a great interview, and so much fun to watch him play. This news has me bummed out. Hope he has a great retirement... though I could totally see him becoming a coach or manager someday if he chose to pursue it.
  17. This proposed trade would hurt us in two ways. Kiermeier would only exacerbate our outfield logjam. Upton is a sunk cost and there's no way we're paying him $20M a year to be a part-time player. And even if you keep him in left and put Trout in right, then where in the world are you putting Adell and Marsh? Not only that, but you're also dealing away three of the best prospects in a fairly shallow minor leagues system? Hell no.
  18. I like it. Reasonable price for a 28 year old LOOGY with a good track record. He was projected by MLB Trade Rumors to make $2.2 million via arbitration before being non-tendered by the Brewers.

  20. It must be B, right? They do this with all of their starters, not just Snell. For them it seems to be an organizational philosophy, more about limiting times through the order than innings. And they've built a team stocked with effective relievers that complements this strategy.
