  1. Maybe he paid Scott Cousins to take out Posey to help w/ his baseball futures situation?
  2. It's not just Angels fan boards talking about this either. I think a lot of it is driven by people who are into fantasy, and since Trout is a common early draft pick speculation on stuff like weight, and implications on his future numbers are being discussed to death.
  3. Good. Let him get it out of his system before April...
  4. so what are we calling Wellsy (same height / equal or slightly higher weight than Trout)?
  5. We caught up to Texas in the Standings
  6. We're gonna need it to deal with the Hanson / Vargas / Blanton situation
  7. I read it more as Scioscia trying to justify still playing Wellsy as much as possible FWIW.
  8. My biggest gripe about the KC game you're referring to wasn't so much taking Greinke out, but opting to put in Frieri (he struggled/racked up a huge pitch count the night before) instead of Jepsen (who was fresh and warmed up at the time).
  9. I had seats near the Angels on-deck circle on Sunday. I definitely noticed a real contrast between VW and Mark Trumbo, who obviously had a much more athletic physique. Despite all the tongue in cheek comments about "fat Trout", Trout's body weight situation looks a lot better than Vernon. I also heard lots of fans saying things like "that should advance the runner to third... oh wait it's Wells!" during the game. (Note, I'm not referring to the dropped popup) I was pleasantly surprised that both Trumbo and Bourjos have been showing signs of improved plate discipline and took lots of walks. Trumbo was able to lay off the two-strike low outside curves that troubled him last year. I'm aware the pitching to date hasn't been good, but neither were the pitches that Trumbo was striking out on last year.
  10. We'll all be demanding Arte sell the team to Vernon Wells.
  11. Confirmation of what I've been saying on here for a while -- Wells' whole plan is to intentionally lower the value of the team with his poor play and ridiculous contract so he can then afford to turn around and buy the team.
  12. My view on this is that it's a tossup between the anticipated 2013 team (with a better "big three" but not as deep), and the old 2000 team. Unfortunately I suspect the 2013 team will pitch about as well as the 2000 team...
  13. Was at the game. Wind in the stands was ridiculous enough, in three air is was very fast, gusty, and frequently changing directions so I can understand balls being hard to track. While it's true Wells dropped a flyball he also hustled and took advantage of Oakland dropping one of his own popups. Calhoun overall looked good today as well. Trout esque catch at the wall to save two runs. Barry Enright was terrible. Frightening to think he's #8 on the starter depth chart.
  14. I was at the home opener yesterday and will be at todays game as well. I was actually surprised to see so many regulars (Bourjos, Trumbo, Aybar, Williams) this early. Trumbo is a bit of a wild card at the plate considering his second half slump. Scioscia may want him to get more hitting practice in at the DH spot (wont tire out as much if he's not playing a field position) Bourjos might be trying out for his own job with Wells.
  15. Those of you who watched the home game today -- remember that ball that Bourjos dropped? Trout would've caught that.
  16. ... you do realize that the last two days was actually a once-in-a-decade snow sticking on the ground in Arizona "blizzard" situation, right? Cold + high humidity = actually pretty close to the SoCal marine layer as far as baseball propagation goes. That plus keep in mind that "white stuff falling from the sky" means a third of the drivers on the road panic and drive slower for no apparent reason. Another third get pissed off and drive super fast/aggressive for no apparent reason. The final, reasonable third get stuck dealing with 10+ car pileups out of no fault of their own
  17. Some forum software allows the admins to choose how many generations of quotes are allowed. IMO 3 is a good tradeoff. One level deep is just not enough, but ridiculous quote towers like the old board are just too much IMO I don't have any cool self-shot Angels pics nor is my face particularly exciting, so I posted some original photos of solar shenanigans. Hey. In the 2013 all star game it's quite possible that Prince Fielder steals home while Trout, Scoiscia, and Molina steal second in an effort to draw a throw from Jeff Mathis to first.
  18. If by "cats" you're referring to the 2012 College World Series champions, then... we don't really have a good middle-finger emoticon on the new boards Otherwise, carry on <-- not as cool as TAZ
  19. Not only that, watch Jordan Walden - Butcher = Craig Kimbrel 2. I have a very bad feeling that Blanton IS, in fact, our third best starter
  20. According to Scott Boras, Kyle Lohse is better than everyone on our staff except Jered Weaver, therefore we should sign him for an outrageous sum of money + draft compensation. I'm not saying we should go for Lohse but I'd be a lot more comfortable about the Angels starting pitching situation if we had at least one more guy.
  21. Makes sense. Coming from the NL he's seen more of the Reds players than anyone else on our staff. Also, the fewer homerun pitchers in the Texas series, the better... I'd have no objection to CJ Wilson and Jered Weaver pitching the way they did in '09-'11 either
  22. Make lots of threads about this:
  23. I'll be in at both home games this weekend. As of now I have a conflict during the Fanfest weekend unfortunately.
