There's a good chance Seattle could've finished ahead of us last season were it not for Trout. Subtract about 10 from the Angels win column and add a few to theirs (there were a couple games we won aginst them where Trout was by far the biggest producer)

He actually looked like he's lost a lot of weight and is in much better shape than last season.

He did reach 1st base on a strikeout though. That's one of the scary things about Trout is even in the middle of bad slumps he can still find ways to get in position to score runs.

From what I understand agent commissions are something like 5%. Getting a $1k payrise when you're only making $24k to start is a bigger deal than going from $490-$510k . That plus I don't know of any other major players represented by Landis; Landis is probably worried Trout is going to switch to Boras immediately before signing a 9 figure deal.

Sounds like the Rockies are trying to catch lightning in a bottle with Cassevah's extreme groundball percentage. Opposite strategy compared to the Angels strategy of loading up on flyball pitchers (which would be a terrible idea in Colorado)

Strasburg of the Nationals should be up there and, (unfortunatly) so should Yu Darvish of the Rangers K's are overrated in Anaheim thanks to the Marine Layer + Bourjos + Trout situation. according to that logic Joe Blanton > CJ Wilson

I think the solution to this is clear. Have Reagins cover the bill for everyone's lunch in the clubhouse. He can afford it with that huge sum of inheritance money he obtained from some long lost super-rich relative he'd never heard of until shortly after the Wells trade went through.

IMO it would not have hurt to give Trout the equivalent of 1 or 2 Wells-games* of compensation as a bonus. (*to translate, one Wells-game = a unit of currency worth more than double my annual salary)

It would clear up our logjam in CF and get Wells some everyday at bats. Plus it would be a nice preemptive move in case Trout decides to switch to Boras as a result of this payrise snub.

Should be interesting to see if this becomes a pattern and the Angels end up going to an arbitration a couple years down the road arguing for something like half of what Trout's agent wants (like what happened with Mathis)
