  1. As far as a POBO goes, I don't think that Arte will be offering the job to Theo Epstein.
  2. My point in this whole discussion is that the Angels have other players on their roster with considerably less potential than CRod. They could have outrighted any one of them, and continued to let CRod rehab through the winter, and into spring training next season before making a determination as to where he fit in the organization.
  3. Escobar is going to be a FA, all our potential FA's will be removed from the roster once they file. For the Angels purposes, I used Rosenberg and Fletcher because as of now, I can't see them with the organization long term.
  4. Not my point. My point is that there are players currently on the roster, like Rosenberg and Fletcher, that we could've used to clear roster space.
  5. I'm curious as to what Erstad said in his Dodgers interview that made him a frontrunner for that job. I think that if we made a few tweaks to our current roster, Erstad would make a fine manager.
  6. Rodriguez has a big arm. There are plenty of pieces of dead wood on our roster that I would've gotten rid of before him.
  7. Gary DiSarcina was let go by the Nationals. He might be a good interview for the manager's job. He has front office and coaching experience with several teams, including the Angels.
  8. Still the loudest place I have ever been. My ears were ringing for two days after that game.
  9. I'm in the minority here, but I actually liked the work Matt Wise did. I wish him well with the White Sox, except when he plays the Angels.
  10. I am well aware of how many losing seasons we've had. Two seasons ago, Arizona lost 100 games, and today they're in the World Series. They didn't make any drastic changes, they let their people develop, and they had good health. The Angels have Trout, Detmers, O'hoppe, and others to form a good core of talent. The health part will have to take care of itself.
  11. So, we trade Trout, lose Ohtani. No one renews or buys season tickets. Who'd come to watch what is left? From an ownership standpoint, revenue would go into the toilet.
  12. 13. I think that Showalter is now a frontrunner for the Padres job.
  14. Two consecutive solid starts for Daniel in the AFL. With just a tick more velocity, we may have something here.
  15. I really don't know. What I do know is this. The Giants are being run by people who were once employed in the Dodgers organization. Hasselman came to us from the Dodgers organization. The only sustained success that this organization has ever had was when it was being run by Mike Scioscia, who came from, you guessed it, the Dodgers organization. I don't think it would be so bad to invest a few dollars more into the farm system, scouting and player development, and try to copy the Dodgers business model. Maybe if we do that, the Angels can have sustainable, season after season, success.
  16. Again, if Bill Hasselman is receiving interest from the Giants, and he's the Angels 3B coach, why aren't the Angels talking to him?
  17. I can't see the Padres allowing Melvin to go to SF, as they are a divisional rival. The Angels have no such issues. Also, I haven't heard or read that the Angels have any interest in Linares.
  18. If Bob Melvin and the Padres brass aren't getting along, I think we should at least inquire about his availability.

  20. If they wanted to stay in house with an organizational guy, there is always Jack Howell, who was the manager at Tri Cities last season, IIRC.
  21. Big bodied RH pitcher built like a young Bartolo Colon. He may be worth signing, but like anything else, it depends on the price.
  22. The current ownership will not pay what it would take to get Theo Epstein out here.
