I don't know about salivating over but if Anderson keeps it up, or is close to what he's done so far, he will have a market in July. A capable starting pitcher, if you want to move one, will always have a market in July. That said, if the offers aren't terribly enticing, you can always keep him and hope he can keep it up in 2025 (or trade him in the offseason or at next year's trade deadline).
Looking at his stats and profile, I thought the same thing. As injuries start to pile up, we are probably going to see these types of trades. We just don't have any depth, a testament to the inactivity in the offseason. I just hope we don't overpay for these type of guys, like we did with Cron, Moose and Grichuk last year. Pillar was one thing, he was a freebee but we don't need to drain the farm for these type of guys.
Still not sure what the Fletcher/Stassi for White trade was all about...moving Fletcher and Stassi for White, who is hurt (I guess) didn't seem to help us any....dead money all the way around and I'm not sure we benefited much financially, if any....
Probably not many....but I was surprised that the Pads would go after Arraez this early and they really didn't have a glaring need for an INF'er (although he may end up being more of a DH).....
The only way you would make a trade now and not wait would be if you think a player won't sustain early success. That might include Anderson but you run the risk of pulling the trigger too early if he keeps pitching well. if his ERA is still under 3.00 in July, he'd be a very attractive trade candidate.
Rather than DFA Suarez, I wonder if there might be a market for him, even though it is early for a trade. If you DFA him, you lose a little leverage, although you could certainly get multiple offers during the window to trade him, I guess. But, if you don’t get an offer you like, you’re kind of stuck—-take the best offer or you likely lose him to a waiver claim.
