We could have made strides last year by trading Ohtani and not trading for a broken Gio.

We have some players that could net some prospects this year, but I think Arte needs to sell and the new owner have an immediate spending spree to cover up our lack of depth

The spending spree would need to be in years 1-3 of New Ownership on a 5-6 year plan. While drafting and developing the kids you could sprinkle into it.

It could be done. And a swing could happen in year 2. However, the question will always be will Arte' sell....

Without that happening were convicts on Life sentences.

  2. I would be extatic if Schnope ended up with a career like Will Clark !!!

Would you be disappointed if his ending career #'s were like Sean Casey's?

    Or, JT Snow's career #'s?

Each of these players played 12/15 +/- years and did well for their teams....

In the end, I guess, I'm saying don't toss #'s at a kids name. Let them develop and grow and let them figure out what their game will be.

And be happy with whatever it ends up being!

lol, it’s basic math man, not a website or “analytics”.

Schanuel is probably a 10-15 HR, 25-30 double guy at his peak, maybe 30-40 doubles, barring some major change.

Actually, it's averaging mixed with some Hope & Prayers...

Schanuel has the speed of Albert Pujols on his weightless treadmill. So he better develop some power hitting because he won't be running any faster.

I'm sorry James, any mention of Tony Gwynn in the same sentence as a 75 game career of Schanope....

    Dude just stop!

Solid to only grab at a single point of the entirety of my reply...

And he *probably could be* a 5-10 HR guy while averaging 20-25 2B's and having 120 singles per year and hitting 275-320... Is that bad? Sean Casey and others have made a career out of that!

Brian Downing wasn't a prototypical lead off guy either though! 20-25 HR 50-75 rbis 260-280avg but he got on base.

What everyone doesn't understand is on any roster, including your starting 9 it takes all kinds of skill sets to win. Having a guy at the top who is a consistent table setter high obp guy and having an identical guy at the 8th or 9th spot works to continue the li eup or extend the inning.

I'm fine with a bunch of Wards, Schanopes, Neto's, O'Sloppy's as long as the following holds true.

    1. Consistent growth for the player and the team in the standings every season. Minus projections as projections can kill the psyche of a young player. And let's be honest injuries and shit happen every year!

    2. I'm fine if they don't win it all every year. Just get those years of consistency back 85-90 wins make a deal or 2 at the deadline and roll the dice.

On very Good Rosters the players I mentioned above are complimentary pieces to surround your Super Stars with. A good solid supporting cast.

But, also in reality if you're expecting ungodly #'s of HR's & RBI's out of Taylor Ward because he's the last guy standing so he's in the 3rd hole.... You're pretty much expecting more than the player is and you should be more tempered and more often than not you'll be disappointed...

And you can also say assuming a guy that turned 22 in Feb won’t develop additional power is grossly premature at this point.

Power is always the last developed skill set, as it is lift... Sorry. Usually, it's gap to gap power that a player comes in with = extra base hits that could project to lift as the player adds weight and matures.

Schanuel’s 162 game pace is 11 doubles, 18 homers. Arraez’ career average is 33 doubles, 3 triples, 7 homers. Schanuel is already halfway to Arraez’ career high of 10 HR.

I imagine they’ll land pretty similarly…Schanuel may be more of a 30 double/10 HR guy, Arraez more like a 40 double/5 HR guy.

Arraez also had about 2000 PA between minors and winter leagues before his debut. Schanuel had 100 minor league PA, and 800 college PA. Let’s not forget that difference either.

Dude is NOT hitting 18 Bombs this year!! 10-13-15 Max this year! As soon as someone around here throws out 18 Bombs suddenly 20-25-30 comes out then the next thing you know Schnope is hitting 40-50!...

I don't care what any website or analytics state.
