  1. disney+ is not hurting - already at 50m subscribers (double the amount it had two months ago). And it's only been out for 5 months. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/08/business/disney-plus-50-million-subscribers.html
  2. gotta bake brussels sprouts - none of that nasty boiling nonsense.
  3. dubrovnik one of my top 5 places in the world. george bernard shaw once said, "those who seek paradise on earth should come see dubrovnik." gonna try and get head back to that dalmation coast once travel restrictions ease up.
  4. i don't see in-n-out ever doing that. for starbucks, if your hot coffee sits for a while, it doesn't change anything. but in-n-out's whole schtick is freshness, it's why they are so strict where they open locations as it has to be very close distance to the distribution centers. but if you order double double and fries, and it's sitting on a counter it will lose taste/warmth by the time you get there. sure it was a little more convenient, but it's just plain not as good. it's why they don't do delivery (or allow these gig workers / 3rd party cos deliver their stuff) - they want full control over the experience and quality.
  5. RIP. i always loved the line "and somewhere in the darkness..." that is a very compelling beginning to a sentence; it reels you in to possibilities of danger, mystery or maybe even alarm. the reader is worried. what is going to happen to our dear gambler, has he finally met his match? is it foreshadowing his doom? perhaps someone from his past has returned to reconcile a previous defeat. it is an enemy bringing forth the reckoning of hell our whiskey drinking, cigarette bumming, card-skilled savior has managed to avoid all these long years? maybe now is truly the time to run, for his life. ... ... ... "the gambler, he broke even.."
  6. Just hang loose. It will likely get worse before it gets better, and nothing you can do to alter it either way. So might as well just ignore it for a bit, stick with your current strategy (ie maintain consistency), and focus on health and family. But there will most definitely be deals out there in the carnage. For some entertaining light reading: read up on Floyd Odlum.
  7. Somehow, even in the current apocalypse, was able to find legit brisket and corning spices at a local market. So have been cooking corned beef for 4+ hours. And since quarantine basically means airport rules apply, I've been drinking on and off since breakfast. Sláinte!
  8. I don't see nothing wrooooooooooooooong, With a little bumpy griiiiiimes.
  9. conference i was supposed to be at later this month in amsterdam got pushed back a few months. so that sucks.
  10. I'll be at tonight's game vs the Leafs - I'll be the white guy drinking alcohol behind the glass.
  11. i love clearance sales on equities. it's expected volatility. all it means is we are back to october 2019 levels. another way to look at it: since early October stocks had rallied 11% (ie a lot). we just gave that back. oh well.
  12. I'll probably be at the Ducks/Leafs game next month. If anyone wants to meet up for a drink I'll be the white guy.
  13. I have great memories of that old WWF from when I was a kid - Ultimate Warrior, Jake the Snake, Rowdy Rodder Piper, Mr. Perfect, Macho Man, Brutus the Barber Beefcake, LoD, Hitman, etc. Of course the best of all time: Shockmaster.
  14. Smart. Buy high, sell higher is still a win! It's all relative.
