One issue the Angels may have this year is that Josh Hamilton does not have adequate protection in this lineup. Trumbo is not at the level of Adrian Beltre and teams used to pitch around Josh to face Beltre. they certainly wont give Josh anything until Trumbo proves he is more than a guy that had a half of a good season...

If Berkman stays healthy i would not be suprised if he has comparable numbers to Hamilton in regards to OPS. berkman will get most of his value from OBP where Hamilton will get his from slugging%. You may disagree but in 2011 when Berkman was healthy he put up very impressive numbers and he has started the season(very early ofcourse) as Texas' best hitter. AJP is certainly a solid replacement for Mike Napoli. Seems to handle the pitchers well so far and he can be an everyday catcher. He wont destroy the Angels like Napoli, but he is solid...

He is a soft-toss lefty whom the Rangers know very well. He tended to fair much better in Seattle against Texas before. At best he could give a decent 6 inning QS. At worst he gets shelled.

Great player and decent person. he will be booed because he is an Angel and wants to beat texas now. Silly to take anything the guy has said or done personally. Sometimes its fun to boo. I remember after Texas signed A-rod and texas played in Seattle. I have NEVER seen so much but-hurt ever. the boos were deafening and some of the things you could hear the fans say on TV were pretty horrible. Now that was crazy. I dont think it gets close. It would be bad if Texas pitchers gave him anything to hit. His book is simple. Dont give him a anything to hit on the 1st pitch cause he will swing 80% of the time and pitch him soft stuff down and away. I doubt Darvish does anything but strike him out everytime, but hopefully Holland and Harrison execute those pitches the way they they know they have to....

IMO its a bit of an overpay. Strange that a defensive 1st SS receives the 1st 100 million contract from Texas since A-Rod. Strange that most of the Ranger fans who actually know about true value of players applaud this contract. Personally the only way this works out is if Texas moves profar for an elite OF bat because I have no interest in moving Kinsler off 2nd base and our OF prospects are years from being ready while we also have questions going forward at every single OF position....
