  1. I forgot to add Trop in my original post. Totally agree with you on all points.
  2. F the Cubs. I'm going for the Mets or Giants vs. the Indians.
  3. Well honestly, I haven't ever heard of Arky Vaughan. But yeah, impressive list of Hall of Famers.
  4. per Baseball Reference, Mike Trout is the 7th player since 1913 to hit .300/.400/.500 pre-All Star Break, for his career, thru age 24 (min. 1000 PA's).
  5. Besides the Angels winning ball games, here's mine: Mike Trout (duh). But to expand on that, I'd love to see him post a .1000 OPS with a 30/30 season. I think this is well within his grasp if he keeps this up on the base paths. (15 SB's) Shoemaker, Skaggs & Santiago have a great second half (especially if we're not going to trade Santiago). Trade Escobar for a good pitching or outfield prospect. Huston Street reels off a bunch of save opportunities, lowers his ERA, boosts his trade value. Acquire a young active or close prospect left fielder at or before the deadline. Watch Bandy and hope he continues to be productive at the plate and stellar behind the dish. Nate Smith gets promoted and holds his own in his first taste of the big leagues. Lincecum pitch well over the next few starts, boosting his trade value for the deadline or in August. Jered Weaver finish his career with a bang, delivering a bunch of quality starts. Albert Pujols finishes with a respectable slash line and hit 25+ HR, 100 RBI. Bedrosian grabs the closer job by the horns and doesn't let go. We find a gem on the current roster or farm system to be our setup man. C.J. Cron & Garrett Richards come back sooner than expected and finish off the season strong. (reloads pipe, takes more puffs) Andrelton Simmons continues to hit better while wooing his critics with his incredible defense. Our draft class and some key prospects have a great end to the season, boosting their prospect value.
  6. You mean the Salt Lake Bees did.
  7. How did Chris Ellis and Sean Newcomb do in the Futures Game?
  8. Thank God for @Glen, keeping us entertained on a weekly basis with these articles. Plus I've been emailed on the side from followers on Facebook/Twitter, and those who follow our blog, that they appreciate these weekly breakdowns as they don't get to catch all of the games, nor read the online news as often as they used to. So on their behalf and all of us, thank you tin00can!
  9. Well, I hope Street is able to pitch right after the break, then go on a save streak with a flawless ERA. If that happens there's still hope. Also, same could be said if we were to trade him in August for a PTBNL.
  10. OMG. Maybe Dipoto knew he was going to bounce and wanted to fuck the Angels for a going away gift to Arte and Scioscia.
  11. All that intrigued me about this article was that Nate Smith struck out the current #1 prospect in all of baseball. He's shown me enough by pitching well in his career, including the tough confines of Salt Lake and other PCL stadiums.
  12. I don't get the hate. He owns the best BA of all 3B in the AL currently and is a good leadoff hitter. His defense is not the best, but he not bad either. He's made some spectacular plays at the hot corner this season.
  13. Bedrosian is qualified to be our closer. We just need to find a good 6-7-8 guy.
  14. Lol... perfect timing. The injuries and luck this season. WTF.
  15. I was wondering when that was going to happen. If they do well there I can see them both skipping High-A next year and starting off in Double-A. Montgomery and Lund (when he's healthy) could get promoted soon too I'm guessing. Who is taking Thaiss and Zimmerman's place in Orem?
  16. Damn, this thread was completely derailed. Back on topic. Since Marsh signed, will he start in Arizona or Orem?
  17. Geeesh. We may be a few games over .500 or at least right at .500 if we had this guy.
  18. Also... Props to @nate who wrote this on Mike Trout, entering the top 10 in our top 50 moments in Angels baseball feature. #9 - 2014, 2015: Mike Trout's MVP's By Nate Trop - AngelsWin.com Staff Writer Starting with the day Mike Trout was drafted to all of his accolades in the minors to his dominance of MLB, Angels fans knew it was only a matter of time until he was the AL MVP. In 2012 his first full season he put on a dynamic display of power, speed, and athleticism leading the league in stolen bases, runs, OPS+ and making catches in center field that no human should ever be capable of. In 2013 he did more of the same, leading the league in walks and for the second year in a row, in runs scored, stepping up his OPS to .988 and OPS+ to 179. Both years he finished second in MVP voting to Miguel Cabrera, who might be a statue in the field but offensively he was mashing the ball including the first triple crown in decades. If you are a believer in WAR and sabermetrics, Mike Trout deserved the MVP both years but if you believe in the old school stats they favored Miguel Cabrera and it didn’t help that the Angels failed to make the playoffs both years. In 2014 it was a different story. After hitting a single in his first at-bat of the 2012 All Star Game and a double in his first at-bat of the 2013 All Star Game, he hit a triple in his first at-bat of the 2014 All Star Game and ended up adding a double and a walk to go 2-3 with a run scored, two RBI and his first MVP, the all-star variety. He wasn’t finished though leading the league in RBI and for the third straight year runs scored and WAR, slugging the Angels to the best record in baseball and his first playoff series. The conversation was no longer about WAR vs old school, there was no doubt he would be the MVP and on November 13th 2014 it was announced that he was unanimously selected as the AL MVP, the sixth player ever to win both the ASG and league MVP in the same season and the fifth-youngest player ever to win the MVP. His first at-bat of the 2015 All Star Game was a home run to right field that few players in baseball could hit, finishing off the first at-bat of the ASG cycle. He was the fourth player ever to lead off the ASG with a home run and he finished the game 1-3 with an RBI and two runs scored and became the first player ever to win back to back All Star Game MVPs. Unfortunately the rest of 2015 ended with a familiar story, there was another catch and even though he lead the league in slugging, OPS and once again, WAR, the Angels missed the playoffs and Josh Donaldson had an equally impressive season playing for a playoff bound team, leaving Trout the MVP runner-up for the third time in four seasons.
