  1. Yeah but when he connects, he really does go BOOM. The good thing about Gallo is he takes a good share of walks in addition to the K's.
  2. Gallo is not going to net a stud SP. He's lost some stock due to a high strikeout rate, low BA and his first few tastes of the big leagues (outside of some HR's) was unspectacular.
  3. Would you offer Santiago for Gallo? Then trade Escobar for a SP prospect that's really close?
  4. @Revad Please do not take offence to this, but you're going to need to clean up your grammar if you'd like to continue to participate here. The occasional typos happen, we all make mistakes, but I need to see a little effort when it comes to posting legible posts here. It's a requirement. I've already cleaned up 3 of your thread titles in 2 days. Thank you!
  5. I'm sure we'll sign someone to be a #3 or #4 or guy in our rotation, then we'll have one of Nate Smith, Kyle McGowin, Victor Alcantara and Troy Scribner for depth.
  6. Orange County has casual Angels fans which a good handful are fairweather. That said, even if I still lived in So. Cal I wouldn't go as much. I mean when I was living there, I only attended 10-12 games a season. Honestly I prefer watching at home. The Angels play the M's at least 9 times up here at Safeco Field and I go to about 6-8 of the games.
  7. I never said Shoemaker has better stuff than Richards, nor has he put together a season like Richards had two years ago. What I did say is that the way Shoemaker has pitched in the past couple months is far superior in terms of shut down, ace-like performances with a very good strikeouts to innings pitched ratio...something Richards has not been able to string together in a long time. Also, Shoemaker's rookie season was pretty fantastic too. If you rule out a bad stretch last year and the opening to this season from Shoe, he's been a very good top of the rotation type pitcher. You do not need to throw 98 MPH to be classified as an ACE. Max Scherzer in his 19 K performance this season was throwing 91-95 MPH, sitting mostly at 92-93 the entire game. It was his wipe out slider and pinpoint control that led to that dominating start -- something that GR too has not been able to do on a consistent basis. There's more times than not that Richards' high octane fastball has so much movement that he doesn't know how to locate it and he finds himself walking batters, hitting batters and throwing a ton of wild pitches, which also led to just 5-6 inning outings which tax the bullpen.
  8. Oh yeah, I don't expect to see Heaney until 2018.
  9. Well Tropeano has pitched for several years (HS, Minors) and still hasn't had any elbow issues, I don't know why you think he would now. Yes, I'm being optimistic about Richards', but even if he can't go I wouldn't mind having Nate Smith as our 5th starter.
  10. Same. His splitter is a legit out pitch for K's and he's throwing 91-95 MPH with his fastball. I also like he's come up with two different versions of his splitter. One that dives down and another one that fades in or out. That combined with an average slider, what's not to like? We have a good shot at having 5 pitchers in our rotation next year that can get a fair share of K's in Santiago, Shoe, Tropeano, Skaggs and Richards.
  11. Agree! Can you imagine if Richards, Heaney and Skaggs were all healthy from the start till now?? Though we'd probably never see this side of Shoemaker either because he wouldn't have the opportunity with Weaver and Santiago in the rotation. Next season if Richards can pitch and pitch effectively, we may have a pretty solid rotation in Shoemaker, Richards, Tropeano, Skaggs and Santiago if nobody gets traded. Nate Smith as our 6th guy.
  12. Honestly, he's shown he's more of an ACE, #1 type this season than Richards ever has. Shut down stuff.
  13. Hell of a performance. I'm both excited that we have our own version of a Corey Kluber type ACE, or getting a nice haul as far as prospects if we were to trade him. Honestly, I'm more excited about the former than the latter.
  14. Sample size. Darvish will be negative WAR soon enough.
  15. Pujols leads the team in RBI with 60. Darvish leads the Rangers with time spent on the DL. I hope his elbow pops again!
  16. 1-2 more quality starts and I can see Santiago as the top guy on the trade market.
  17. @Revad check out @ettin's piece on Hector Santiago.
