There are 33 days and 26 games until the trade deadline. If we go 18-8 we are in the hunt. We are 5 1/2 games out of 3rd place for the wild card and then would need to catch only one team in August/September. I think Minasian will give the team three weeks to play through this.

I would give Gosselin all the starts at 1B against LHP's. He has an OPS of 1.098 vs. LHP's - higher now with his 2-3 today. Walsh is at .551 - lower now with his 0-4/3 K's today.

It's at the point where Walsh shouldn't playing against LHP's. He's now batting .161 with a 32% K-Rate.

Thanks. Yeah, the league worst ranking on BB% is brutal. It feeds into everything else. I am not a sabermetrician, I don't know the components of FIP or WAR but I am a numbers guy so this is all good. Lastly, I never thought you were "personally slamming" in this conversion. It was a baseball discussion which is more than I can say for much of what is posted here.

But if the home team has a staff that just gives up a lot of HR's wouldn't that inflate the HR numbers for that stadium? Or. If the home team has an offense that just hits a lot of HR's wouldn't that also inflate the #'s for that home stadium?

I can agree with all of that I guess. I obviously don't know the stats like you do. I just don't feel like we have the 6th best staff in the AL so I looked at other categories. Do you? And they only play half their games at the Big A so HR/9 is equalized, right? - BB% is not. They need to do better, they need to be better. That's the Fan in me talking - Let's hope Cobb pitches well tonight.

I'm not cherry picking, I just looked at other KPI's from the Fangraphs sheet. Do you think our SP's are performing at a top level in the AL. They are not good so far this season...

Rengifo is at 2B tonight. They wouldn't bring him up to have him sit on the bench. Switch hitter who can play 2B, SS, 3B and even some corner OF. He'll get his share of AB's.
