I got the impression a lot of people here like the Tamin hire.  What are their thoughts now?  This might be more significant than letting Nevin walk.

Much more significant without a doubt but very intriguing as well. As, if course, there has to be a reason behind his ouster. I mean...was this an Arte dictate or was it decision between the both of them? If it was the former...will the firing of his right hand guy lead to Perry resigning? Was the move made because Tamin was, somehow, responsible for the decision/s which led to the regression of the pitching staff this season or the team's poor trade targets? Or was he (and possibly others to come) being scapegoated by Perry to, perhaps, save his own skin? With more info yet to come it might be good to have your popcorn on standby...

    "Autopsy" is a great term.

It is but the coroner who is performing it is woefully incompetent as well & after 3 years...is still searching for a pulse. You know...like the 2022 pitching staff had before "someone" made a call that caused it to flat-line this season. But hey...maybe in his 4th year of "diagnosing the problem" he will finally get it right huh? Which, will likely will involve an immediate infusion of Showalter to make it all better...

Curt Schilling recently revealed his and his wife's diagnosis, but I don't think when they were diagnosed has been out in public.

    Curt Schilling controversy

On September 28th, Schilling made an announcement on a podcast about what Wakefield was going through, while also stating that Stacy, Wakefield's wife was also enduring cancer treatment for pancreatic cancer.

The controversy came about when they did not give permission for Schilling to disclose any medical information about their condition.

Wakefield is survived by his wife Stacy, his son Trevor, and daughter Brianna.

How was DeRosa chosen to manage Team USA? There had to be a hundred guys more qualified.

Given Perry's background...those would likely include Valentine & if the Mets fire him...Schowalter...

If you don't have depth, then no, the pieces are not there.

It's the problem that I have with Perry in that he didn't truly address the lack of depth until this year...his third as GM. Which, is sadly telling and pretty indefensible with names like Lagares, Wade, Suzuki, Gosselin, Duffy, Velasquez and a host of duds including DFA/waiver wire/past-their-prime castoffs like Eaton, Schebler, and a few others. So, in his first 2 years, Perry simply ignored the depth problem or, as these hack pick-ups suggest, didn't take it very seriously at all. Then, this season he signs better pieces like...Drury who has shown he was a good pick-up who will, hopefully, be even better next year after playing with the team this season. So, point being...how much better would this team have been this year if Perry would have been more serious in adding a couple, more competent pieces (even one not named Velasquez) in his first year and then a couple (or even one) more in his second? I mean, whereas I do understand/appreciate the excitement surrounding the potential of O'Hoppe, Neto, & Schanuel it's, honestly tough for me to get too overly optimistic when the GM can't/has yet to explain how an equally promising/rushed group of 2022 pitchers regressed so badly this season...

1:35pm: The Marlins have claimed left-hander Matt Moore off waivers from the Guardians, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN. It’s the second waiver claim in recent weeks for Moore, who just went from the Angels to the Guardians at the end of August. He won’t be eligible to play in the postseason for the Marlins but will give their bullpen a boost for the final weeks of the regular season.

Moore, 34, has had an up-and-down career as a starting pitching but recently underwent a bullpen renaissance. He posted a 1.95 earned run average with the Rangers last year and parlayed that into a one-year, $7.55MM contract with the Angels. His ERA has ticked up a bit this year, but is still quite good at 2.77. He’s striking out 28.5% of opponents and walking just 7%.

He’s now set to join his third club of the year, which says more about his teams than anything he is doing. The Angels hovered around contention through the summer and decided to go for it at the deadline, holding onto Shohei Ohtani as well as giving up prospects for players like Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo López and others. But they then suffered a miserable August, losing both games and players. They fell back in the standings as Mike Trout was unable to get healthy in the wake of his hamate surgery, while Ohtani suffered a tear of his ulnar collateral ligament that kept him from pitching.

“Even if the season doesn’t work out or the next four years don’t work out, I’m planning for taking care of my kids when they get older. Hip surgeries, wrist surgeries, ankle surgeries … I want to play with them when they are 10, 12, 15 years old.

Given his comments regarding his "nagging" injury history & his want to spend more time with his children...I think it's more likely, at this point, that he retires...

    I am so impressed.

He's not gonna get attention until/unless he hits for power, but what a find.  Props to Perry and his team.

    Neto and Ohoppe too.

    Perry has to stay.

So...you think Perry should stay for, essentially, doing his job as a GM?
