  1. Everyone was screaming pitching pitching pitching pitching and he saw a potential diamond in a scrap heap, I agree with this move. We still have time to trade for pitching. This also likely means Simmons is gone, hopefully for pitching.
  2. I will admit the majority of Jeter's career is a little bit before my time, I only remember seeing good things about his defense because east coast bias and highlights
  3. It's a selling point regardless, nobody remembers Jeter as a good or bad defender, but flashy. Simmons is a little less flashy I guess because he makes things look easier.
  4. I like it, yesterday I imagined him in a Yankee jersey and he looks dope. I do not love or hate the Yankees just a neutral observation because we are likely to let him go, gotta get used to it. Yankees need that Jeter like defense and veteran presence at SS and he would be their best hitting SS this season, it all makes sense for them. Now to sell this angle and get the most value.
  5. Franklin Berreto Winter League 2018-2019 2018-19 22 -5.5 Aragua VEWL FgW 55 228 199 37 70 12 1 7 38 7 1 20 35 .352 .417 .528 .944 105 3 5 0 4 2 Howie Kendrick anyone? Yeah that's optimism and I know he's a SS. Dude's about to get the most consistent ABs of his career, we're going to see who he is real shortly.
  6. Interesting: Michael Chaney 2 hours ago I think I’m in the minority here (and I’m not an Angels fan), but I really like this move for the Angels. La Stella wasn’t going to bring much because he’s a rental in this market, so it’s smart to take a chance on Barreto. Barreto has been pretty bad as a major leaguer, but his minor league track record is strong and he still has all the tools. For a lot of young players, they just need consistent at bats, and the A’s have been too good to have the patience to let him play every day and work through his struggles. pkdryan13 1 hour ago I’m an A’s fan who agrees. Matt Chapman and Matt Olson said coming up through the minors, it was Barreto that people came to see rather than them (readers of this, try your hardest to not be morons and construe this as someone saying Barreto is or will be better than either Chapman or Olson).
  7. Barreto is going to be our experiment for the rest of this season he is out of options and must get service time, we will resign Simba if he doesn't pan out. OR we are trading Simba now and gambling that either Rengifo or Barreto pan out, or both, OR they're planning on signing a cheaper (than Simba) middle infield stop gap and letting these two figure it out regardless of the outcome.
  8. This also likely means Arte has decided not to resign Simmons I'm like 99% sure. So you can almost trust me on this one.
  9. Perhaps they see Rengifo as a solid backup infielder type and Barreto has more of that heavy build for an everyday SS. Perhaps they want the two to battle it out to the death.
  10. Yep, Dipstick makes the Mariners putrid, radioactive toxic waste. Untouchable.
  11. Uhh guys this guy is only 24 and has a really high ceiling, I honestly thought we wouldn't get anything better for Stella, it appears nobody wants to help us with pitching, we'll see what people think Simba is worth. We won't face the A's again this year and having LaStella on the A's makes them easier to root for (I want them to pull it off this year).
  12. lol joining late on this one, what's with the two b2b hbp?
  13. Idk why people think this is funny or stupid, I honestly think the team needs a new identity, we will be radically different in just 2 seasons from now Upton, Pujols and tons of other contracts and old cobwebs off the books for good, unrecognizable except for Trout, Rendon, Ohtani. The most visual way to show your team is moving in a different direction is via the uniform.
  14. Upton will mash for whoever he goes to, guarantee it, probabaly just figured things out. Idk how we avoid selling him low though.
  15. I'll say it again, trading Bundy for pitching will backfire, it's also time we reward pitchers that come here and actually succeed. Edit: Bundy is the only starting pitcher for the Angels to come from another team and succeed since like Colon or some shit.
  16. The Angels seem to have good success with well-built, big boned or lankey pitchers (Colon, Escobar, Lackey, Weaver Santana etc) Kumar Rocker is the perfect candidate IMO, haven't looked at Hill yet or any of the other prospects. Red Sox making a hard run at Kumar only .5 game ahead of us.
  17. The kind of moves we need to make will happen in the off-season, we could get some scrap metal from a postseason bound team but that's about it.
