IMO, we don't need 3 starters.  Just need one.

    1. Bundy, 3.2 ERA, 1.036 WHIP.  Won't be replicated, but a mid/high 3, 1.15 WHIP is very possible.
    2. Canning, 3.99 ERA, 1.3667 WHIP.  Whip is definitely high.  He'll probably bring it down to the 1.2 range.  His minor league numbers show that he should even get it into the low 1.2 range, maybe high 1.1 range.  ERA wise, if he's in the high 3's, it should be enough with the offense we can put behind him.
    3. Heaney  4.46 ERA, 1.230 WHIP.  Potential to drop it into the low 4's.  His Whip has been very consistent in the 1.2's, which is fine for a 3/4 pitcher.
    4. Barria.  3.62 ERA, 1.113 WHIP.  Will probably move up higher on depth chart, but he is still pretty young.  It definitely looks like his 21 YO campaign wasn't a fluke, and that his 22 YO campaign might be the outlier.  His AAA numbers are a worry.  But for a 4 starter, he should be fine.

Wildcard is obviously Ohtani, but I'm not expecting much from him at all this season.  So he'd just be a bonus, if anything.  I'm still on the McKenzie/Lindor bandwagon.  McKenzie can slot in the 4/5 slot.  And hopefully rise to the 2 slot by end of season.  In 3/4 years, I can see him as the staff ace.  But he's still very young, so no need to rush him to the top slot.  Just get him experience, and let him shine.  I wouldn't mind Walker also, as he would slot into the #2/3 slot easily.  But Barria and Canning are young, and if you add McKenzie you would have to slot one in relief or down to the minors.

What we do need is 3 relievers though.  Mayers Bedrosian, and Ramirez all put up good numbers last season.  The rest were not good at all.

Bedrosian was released and is now FA

i know it's useless to suggest this, but you might want to look at his manager on that one. you might also want to look at his number of pitches and other important stats.

if all you're looking at is IP, you're missing the forest because the trees are in the way.

I beg to differ. The peripherals are in line with his peak form. The difference in 2020 was mostly (entirely?) due to giving up more dingers, almost twice his career rate. With only 50 IP, this is likely due to sample size.

Snell is at least a good #2, ala Dan Haren. He probably won't ever have a sub-2.00 ERA again, but I think sub-3.00 is very possible.

But he will cost a bucket-load: One of Adell/Marsh/Adams, one of Detmers/Rodriguez, a Rengifo type, and probably a Knowles/Deveaux type.

Now if the Angels could get him for Adams, Barria, Rengifo, and Knowles, I'd be all over that. But I think they'll want--and get--more.

I'm not giving up Adell or Marsh for a pitcher who goes 5 inn. Barria had good 18 and 19 out of rotation to start year because of Cahill and Harvey signings. In a short season 2020 only 7 appearances with 5 starts but looked like Barria of 18. Adell be patience he is young and going to be a stud.

I know I’ve said I wouldn’t trade Adell or Marsh and especially not both, but for Snell...

I agree many free agents out there plus starters we have not horrible. Bundy, Heaney, Canning and my sleeper to have big year is Jamie Barria. 2018 Barria had nice year. 2019 not in rotation to start year big mistake and messed with his head. 2020 short season only 7 appearances with just 5 starts but looked like Jamie of 18. Snell is good but not for Adell or Marsh.

    You can’t be serious, right?

Yes I am maybe a Barria, some prospects. Snell is not same pitcher he was when he was CY Young winner. Only like 5 and a third inn in his starts last few years. I would love to get Snell but Adell or Marsh would not be in package. Remember many pitchers are out there Sonny Gray may be out there.

  6. Success in minors to me is how many players come up to help your major league team. This could be players on your roster or players traded to get a player you need. Recent years farm has given halos some players that have helped, Fletcher,Walsh, Canning with Adell and Marsh on their way. Angel minor league system has improved from where it was 5 or 6 years ago. With this improvement this has made halos on the cusp of a title.
