This is pretty incredible
Good stuff from VinRBI to compile all that, though I’m not sure I want to watch 24 mins of video presumably filled with plenty of frustration.

Does anyone know where I can find these stats? Clutch too?

I don’t necessarily believe this, but I’m just gonna throw it out there and see what other people think...
Do Canning and Sandoval have mentality problems on the mound? And if so, might that have to do with where they grew up?
I don’t think it’s unreasonable to suggest people in OC have different personalities than, say, people from New York or Boston.
Whenever these two pitch, there doesn’t seem to be a bulldog, fight through it mentality that other pitchers have.
Sandoval leading MLB in unearned runs last year suggests there’s something there.
Is there something here?

I'm gonna read through everything later, but a quick question based upon first glance: why is 45+ FV behind 45 FV and 40+ FV behind 40 FV?

The only thing I can think of is that Washington is on orders from the front office to play Hicks and Sano on the regular in hopes that they're productive and can be flipped at the deadline, at which point they'll have Adell and Moniak in the lineup everyday. I'm not saying it's the best idea, but it could at least be justified if the Angels are entering a rebuild and just inflating value so they could be traded alongside Drury and maybe even Ward.
I think it's the opposite: Washington is under no orders from the front office.
So, as is said below, Washington is playing the "vets" until/unless the youngsters earn his trust.

considering Baltimore has claimed Soto twice now, it makes you wonder if/what they see in him that they can unlock.

“I’m trying to get them at-bats so they can get going,” Washington said. “The toughest is Adell. He has to come off the bench and pinch hit. He’s doing well with it. That’s a very good learning process for Adell, being able to come off the bench and being able to go out there when you get an opportunity and produce and all it’s going to do is help him as the season progresses.”
noteworthy for the people who are mad about Adell not starting.

The position for the Angels is just a stepping stone for new GMs to get their feet wet. They do their time then move on to bigger and better things.
Yeah, Tony Reagins is really thriving as *checks notes* Chief Baseball Development Officer for MLB.
And Billy Eppler is *checks notes* suspended by MLB. -

I don't get the hype with Rada. It's fun to daydream because he's so young, but what is the upside? He's small and has no pop. He has good command of the zone, but as the pitchers get more control as he moves up he will probably walk less. He doesn't seem to have the power to keep pitchers from throwing strikes. I get that power is the last thing to develop, but it's not like he's 6' 2" and skinny with a frame to add more weight. There's the occasional Altuve, but I don't like the odds of Rada being close to that. What does he project as in the big leagues? CF David Eckstein?
He was an above average hitter in A ball at 18 years old.
Most 18 year olds were in High School, the DSL, or ACL.

I haven’t been as engrossed with the farm the last couple of years. It wasn’t that interesting. It was approaching Dipoto-era levels of bad, but this year is already grabbing my attention a lot more.
Yeah, it seems like there’s a lot more interesting young, international prospects now especially in IE.

Yes, after a season they thought they would contend and failed miserably. There is no such delusion this season.
Even with low expectations, there’s still a bar that needs to be met.
And if he fails to meet that, he’ll get canned.

That stupidity is gonna hurt Adell 1000x more in Wash’s eyes than what hitting a HR does to help.

what are the odds of a back-and-forth post-game between the manager and a reporter about Sanó?

Or they already made that decision and haven't announced it... like they didn't announce that Eppler had been extended. Not sure what the point of announcing Torii Hunter had been brought back into the fold as a special assistant to the GM if there was any real uncertainty about Minasian coming back.
And what happened with Eppler?
He was fired at the end of the season, even with a contract option having been picked up

Kinda doubt Perry gets fired after this season unless the team really sucks. It's obviously a transition year, and doesn't really make sense to dump the GM at that point. If they were going to do that, it would've made more sense to do it after last season.
It would’ve made more sense, but does this organization always do the most sensible thing?
His deal is up after the season, so they’ll have to make some sort of decision no matter what.

Or you know, a competent organization would have allowed Minasian to hire his own manager and not waste two years catering to the whims of a megalomaniac trying to force his vision on an entire sport.
Yes, that would’ve been ideal 3 years ago.

I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) a team has to be trailing by seven or more runs before a position player can pitch. And yes, I know.
Looks like it’s 8, but your point still applies.

I don’t agree with every single gripe, but a lot of them are on point.
A competent org would’ve fired Perry and let the new GM come in and pick his manager.
Instead, Perry will get fired after the season and Wash will be a lame duck stuck with a new GM next year.

Ok, so maybe it's gonna be an issue.
It means they’re gonna have to use their leverage guys in a game they’re losing or Sanó throws a couple innings.

There should be 3 outs.
Brutal batted ball luck.

I don't think it's an issue unless Soriano gets knocked out in the 2nd or 3rd inning. Otherwise, that's 5 guys to cover innings, with an off-day tomorrow. Not ideal, but workable.
They can cover it, but I don’t know if they can effectively cover it.
If you have to use García or Fulmer to hold a lead as a bridge to the back 3, that’s a little suspect.

Just now, Angels 1961 said:
Sano can go an inn
He might have to if Soriano struggles, Fulmer enters, and they run out of arms.

It seems like the Angels might have trouble covering innings in today’s game.
Cisnero, Strickland, and Suarez are all probably unavailable.
That leaves Estévez, Moore, Cimber, García, and Fulmer. While Soriano is on a ~60 pitch limit.

I wonder how that compares to the league average in those situations.
EDIT: I tried to search, but am unsure what specific criteria were used to look at these situations.
I looked up Trout's stats in the 8th/9th/extras where the tying or winning run was either on-base or Trout himself. My search came up with 399 such PAs.
In those situations, he has an .896 OPS.
Since 2008, the league average OPS in those situations is .690.
