  1. IMO, I thought this was actually pretty revealing. Based on what he said, and reading between the lines, it seems like the plan is to “retool” or whatever word you want to use. They wanted to keep their draft picks, keep the payroll clean, and give young players a chance to prove themselves. One thing that gives me some trepidation, though, is that he’s in the last year of his deal (as far as we know). So that may be the plan, but is he gonna be the one overseeing it?
  2. Yeah, it seems like the plan is to develop all the actual prospect types in AA. Paris, Kochanowicz, Mederos, Dana, etc.
  3. my theory is that MLB knows the Angels will draw a big crowd for their first home game, whether it's on the first game of the season or the 7th. so instead, they give another team a home opener on actual opening day in hopes of that team drawing more. O's would've drawn anyway, but that could explain all those years in Oakland.
  4. against the best pitcher in the league tho. I'm not gonna fret too much about the offense's performance against a great pitcher when their own starter choked
  5. as soon as I saw that quote from Trout, that's what I immediately thought of
  6. “It’s just one game,” Trout said. “We’ve got to turn the page. It was a rough one, and we have to get ready for Saturday.” https://www.mlb.com/angels/news/mike-trout-homers-in-first-at-bat-of-2024-season
  7. 11-9 record or better. No more than 2 leads blown (and subsequently games lost) in the 7th inning or later. No more than 2 games where two runs or less are scored. Health.
  8. Raider Uceta played two games in the Astros org. Rainier Rivas hit .152/.199/.261 in A ball in 2022 and hasn’t played since.
  9. Hey, turns out this guy knew what he was talking about
  10. Yeah, I don’t mind not adding long-term deals to the books IF they go out and spend next offseason. I still wish they spent more on one-year deals that aren’t gonna clog the books long-term, though.
  11. Did you forget that you posted the same thing three hours earlier?
  12. Which one is it? Also, the bolder prediction here is that the Angels bring back Panda Express.
  13. Kelvin Caceres is the Angels best reliever at season’s end. Nelson Rada makes his MLB debut towards the end of the season. Jo Adell outperforms Mickey Moniak (is that bold?) Angels attendance dips below 2.25 million. Arte signs a big name free agent to a $250M+ deal.
  14. I think the team would get in trouble with the BBWAA if they never had the GM speak to the media. My guess is Perry speaks to the media tomorrow at Angel Stadium pre-game.
  15. Sounds like Blum is ready to come in firing whenever Perry speaks to the media. He talked about on his podcast that he’s gonna ask Perry which statement he previously said wasn’t true: that he was gonna be aggressive or that players wanted to play for Wash.
  16. Did Bally Sports run out of money to pay the camera guy? Unreal how bad the camera guy has been so far.
  17. Same. I hope they can bring him back on a milb deal if he can’t find an MLB deal elsewhere.
  18. An 100 OPS+ is average. And average isn’t replacement level. Below average OPS+ ≠ Below replacement level OPS+
  19. I’m not one of those people who has that fan infatuation. @Docwaukee illustrated it best, and I’d argue that he’s not “easily replaceable” as shown by the Angels complete inability to replace him when he got injured last year.
