  1. I think it was because Houston had just been sold, so they were able to get Jim Crane to agree to switch leagues as part of the deal. If you move Arizona or Colorado to the AL, you not only have to move them but you then have to move someone else from the NL Central to the NL West. And it’d be hard to get an NL Central team to switch from that travel to West Coast travel. Plus the time differences. Any west coast games would start at 9 pm central time.
  2. My hot take (if it’s considered one) is that Adell will outperform Moniak this season.
  3. Good thoughts in there from Ben. As it pertains to the Angels, they are probably one of the few teams that isn't capable of developing Rosario-esque players. Which is why I could see them shopping in that market. I suppose Stefanic kinda fits, but he can't play SS. (To be fair, Rosario's defensive metrics suggest he can't either)
  4. from the article: Right now, there are enough so-so (relative to the best major leaguers) middle infielders that you can sign them for cheap. So naturally, the Rays are doing just that, and picking the ones who most fit their roster construction style to do so. Good work, Rays; the rest of baseball surely won’t be far behind on the same plan." Given that the Marlins just hired the Rays GM as their POBO this offseason, their strategies are likely similar.
  5. If the Mets didn’t want to pay Snell/Montgomery with a healthy Senga, I don’t see why they would want to pay them without a healthy Senga. The whole reason they’re out on big free agent spending this offseason (besides the 25 y/o Yamamoto) is because they believe their time to strike is 2025, when they have an infusion of youth (Baty, Vientos, Mauricio, Acuña, Gilbert, Scott, etc.)
  6. Give me realignment that puts the Angels in a division with the A’s, Rockies, and an expansion team in Utah. What we’ll get instead: Dodgers, Padres, and Giants.
  7. Thank you. I appreciate that.
  8. They must be confident he bounces back to his 2022 form. Because there are guys who had betters years than him last year who got less money. Diekman, Miller, Suter, Floro, Alexander, Farmer, Gott.
  9. I also see the pen starting out that way. It won’t surprise me if multiple of Cimber/Cisnero/García end up getting DFAd by mid-June. I’d like to think one of Caceres/Joyce/Zuñiga steps up and grabs ahold of a spot at some point.
  10. It won’t be a huge distraction because Wash won’t let it be a huge distraction.
  11. So they can DFA him again and try to sneak him through waivers the next time they need 40-man space.
  12. I'm not sure how you interpret me saying it "seems pointless" as complaining when I said right before that it's "not a big deal."
  13. My first reaction was why? Maybe he recently held a workout or something where he impressed them? Milb deal, so not a big deal, but seems pointless.
  14. Option A, since Snell/Montgomery improve the team for more than just this season. But I’d be cool with either.
  15. I’ve been in a sour mood after hearing Arte’s comments today and I am less excited about the roster as it stands today, but I’m not one of those people who claims they aren’t gonna watch games or something like that. I’m looking forward to a new season, seeing what Wash brings and how the younger players do. I also hope we get a vintage Mike Trout season, and one where he “takes back his team” by staying healthy and returning to form.
  16. I will say, I think it’s a different perspective for people who saw the Angels accomplish the ultimate goal than people who didn’t. I didn’t see them win the World Series. And when I really started following the team everyday, it was after they were making the playoffs. I am also looking forward to Wash and the new coaching staff, but the Angels I know have been ran poorly by Arte Moreno.
  17. We’ll see what the budget is once we hit the start of the season and whether they made any more moves. But if the payroll is anywhere near what it’s at right now, Perry deserves a ton of scrutiny for his allocation of resources. If you have this many holes on the roster, you can’t be spending $8M on García, Cimber, Cisnero, Plesac, and Kolarek.
