  1. sure, but I think $23M is a little light. I see like $25M-$27.5M
  2. I don’t see either Montgomery or Bellinger signing for $23M AAV.
  3. If it works, there’s big upside. If it doesn’t work, you know you can just put them back in the pen where they’ve had success. I’d much prefer giving López or Hicks a $9M-$11M AAV than giving like Clevinger or Ryu that same amount because if they struggle, you know you can still get value out of them.
  4. Who says he’s even selling? Just seems like false hope to me.
  5. I’d like to know who is accurate and who is not, because I want to know what the Angels are doing. I have no idea what they’re doing when one person says one thing, and others say another.
  6. Spending $180m or whatever on Snell is spending big, big money.
  7. Rosenthal is saying he expects them to do something big. Whereas Heyman said that “at the moment, I don’t think the Angels are doing anything.” And Murray said “I don’t think they’re going to spend big, big money this offseason.”
  8. This seems to go against what many (Heyman, Murray, AngelsWin) have said about the Angels being in a holding pattern.
  9. The only thing I wonder is if the Angels might’ve made the playoffs in 2020 if they had Stripling and Pederson. They only missed the playoffs by 3 games, and that was with Julio Teheran’s 10.05 ERA making 9 starts. Both had bad 2020s, but we don’t know how they play if they’re on a different team.
  10. Apparently he’s said in the past that he still wants to start, so it likely was the deciding factor. I wanted him for the Angels, but that contract is about the max I thought he’d get & I wouldn’t offer him a chance to start.
  11. Most of the conversation was non-baseball related. But the baseball related stuff is above + him saying he thought Ohtani was gonna leave, the Dodgers will make back that $700M, and that he thinks they should shorten the season.
  12. Could also be Clevinger. But the signs do add up to it being the Angels he was referencing.
  13. Jose Suarez is gonna take his 8.29 ERA and 7.32 FIP last season and try to argue for the extra $425k… good luck.
  14. He’s had 3 months to make up his mind. Arte is such a clown.
  15. Just letting you all know that the account referenced in the OP is a troll account. If you look at their past tweets, it’s pretty clear. They have multiple tweets over the last few weeks claiming that Joc Pederson is signing in Japan and that it’s a done deal.
  16. At least there’s this… ”A vital part of this extension involves the team and city working together to complete stadium upgrades, bringing the award-winning ballpark up to compliance with new MLB player facility standards. This offseason, those updates include expanding both clubhouses – home and visitors. Larger locker rooms, updated training facilities, and new nutrition areas will be incorporated. Additionally, a new weight room facility will be constructed onsite behind the home clubhouse. Fans and community members can look forward to even more stadium upgrades in the following years.”
  17. Both Murray and Heyman are essentially ruling the Angels out for Imanaga, so it’s pretty safe to say they’re out.
  18. Murray today again mentioned the Angels with Stroman. It seems to me like Stroman is by far the most likely SP among the Snell/Montgomery/Imanaga/Stroman group.
  19. I believe he has very good sources in the Angels org, maybe the best of any insider. If you just search tweets from him with “Angels” in the tweet on Twitter, you’ll see that he has broken a ton of stuff. Ranging from minor moves to big moves. O’Hoppe trade, Moustakas trade, Bachman & Mederos promotions, Raisel Iglesias trade, Michael Lorenzen signing, etc.
  20. I think the most relevant info in that article is: “The Giants, Red Sox, Cubs and Angels have been tabbed by sources as the finalists for Imanaga” But Murray said the Angels aren’t really in on Imanaga.
  21. I was worried that they were gonna guarantee Kolarek a bullpen spot when they signed him, since he’s out of options. So I’m glad that clearly wasn’t the case. Right now, I think the only bullpen locks are Estévez, Soriano, García, and Cimber. Still lots of room to improve. Beyond that on the 40-man, it’s Wantz, Joyce, Herget, Ingram, and SPs who could pitch out of the pen. They don’t really have any lefties.
  22. It would be a stupid move if they are cash strapped. But I don’t think they’re cap strapped, based on the amount of payroll space they have, their spending history (T10 payroll each year the last 20 years), and them giving guaranteed money to AAAA players.
  23. I think Ray puts them more on Imanaga than Snell. I think they do one of Imanaga/Stroman and one of Chapman/Bellinger.
