  1. Today or tomorrow might be a little aggressive, but it does mean he needs to get it done a few days ahead. I’m thinking Monday or Tuesday.
  2. Maybe, but it doesn’t hurt to have depth. Ward, Trout, and Moniak all have their own concerns.
  3. I'd like Pham or Duvall, paired with a DH like Turner, JD, or Soler. That projection from FanGraphs feels light for Maton, but I'd easily scoop him up at that price.
  4. I hope there's a trade, since that's more exciting than just a DFA.
  5. So you're saying they've made a legit offer? In that case, that answers the question of if the Angels are willing to pay up. Joel Sherman just wrote today that Montgomery is "aiming to top" the $172 million that Aaron Nola got.
  6. I'm sure they're in on a lot of guys. But the big questions in any free agent pursuit is whether the Angels are willing to pay up and if the interest is reciprocated.
  7. Chicago Angels. Matt Wise, Eric Thames, Drew Butera. Brett Phillips, Max Stassi, Martín Maldonado. Edgar Quero, Ky Bush.
  8. I hope it’s right, but the “source” of this speculation is suspect. The speculation is because an MLB shop listing says, “on field.” Could easily be a mistake or mislabel. And it’s technically not wrong either, since they did wear those hats for 2 games in 2023.
  9. I hope you’re right, though “based on nothing” doesn’t inspire much hope. Lol
  10. They haven’t said whether they’re gonna have an assistant hitting coach or an assistant pitching coach. Steve Karsay is the bullpen coach, but some teams carry 3 pitching coaches. And a lot of teams, including the Angels in the past, have carried 3 hitting coaches. They also haven’t said whether the support staff (bullpen catchers, Tim Buss) are returning. And, they haven’t confirmed the hire of Alex Cultice as head of pitching game planning.
  11. Obviously, the Angels like him. The public rankings aren’t always right, especially when trying to project 16 yr olds. Remember, Kevin Maitan was once thought to be the next Miguel Cabrera.
  12. @Jeff Fletcher any idea if/when the Angels plan to announce their final coaching staff?
  13. I’ve since learned that BA’s rankings are based on signing bonus rather than a ranking of talent.
  14. Not really, since the bad farm system is why they haven’t finished over .500 They go hand-in-hand.
  15. A- Rada and Dana B- Laverde and Urena C- Vera, Blakely, Placencia, Ramirez
  16. I see the argument for that, but I’d rather add someone and start with them as the 4th & 5th outfielders rather than hand them playing time. Especially with Trout and Ward coming back from injuries and Adell/Moniak being uncertain commodities already.
  17. I’d prefer to add a starting OF, push Moniak to 4th OF, and Adell to 5th OF. With as many injuries as this team has had, I’m not worried about having 14 or 15 position players for 13 spots— something will happen to clear space. No one saw Stassi and Walsh having non-baseball issues in Spring Training last year. Stuff happens out of nowhere. IMO, RF is that position.
  18. I think they need to add two, in a perfect world three, solid position players. At least one outfielder and one infielder. That’d give you: C; O’Hoppe/Thaiss INF: Schanuel/Drury/Rendon/Neto/Rengifo/FA OF: Ward/Trout/OF/Moniak/Adell
  19. If the Angels get this production from the position players, they should have a good season overall. A few of these seem unlikely or optimistic, but they’re not unrealistic. The thing is, I can see any of the players reaching those projections on their own. But for all of them to do it feels unrealistic. The upside is there, we’ll see how much of it they can reach. And, as always, a lot of it is based on health.
  20. Plesac having options is a big difference because I don’t think either should be on the active roster. Barria wasn’t gonna re-sign on a milb deal with the Angels and he was out of options, so that makes Plesac the better option for the Angels. In a vaccum, you’d take Barria on a milb deal over Plesac on a major league deal. But that wasn’t an option.
  21. I wouldn’t want him at $16M. And if Boston eats salary, they’re gonna want a better return.
