How about rolling the dice on Alex Wood? He's had back issues and hasn't pitched all year, although he will make his 2019 debut this Sunday. In four rehab starts he has 3.18 ERA, went six innings in his last start. His deal expires this year. If we can get him for a cheap prospect, I would at least listen. If he can pitch close to his career averages it would be better than anything we have. Another arm the Reds have on a one year deal is Tanner Roark who is pitching better(3.95 ERA) than our rotation. Again, if he can be had cheap, I would listen at least. I got the names from this list: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-trade-deadline-ranking-the-50-best-trade-candidates-including-trevor-bauer-and-madison-bumgarner-in-top-10/. Obviously, I would like an arm with control beyond 2020, but the prospect price might be hard to justify especially, if other teams are willing to overpay.
