  1. Yes, Merry Christmas to all of AW and your families
  2. Thanks @Inside Pitch only been here for about a month still trying to fit in around here
  3. So I take this forum isn’t the best to learn more about baseball stats/contracts?
  4. Well a lot a lot about the Angels in particular like their fan base and whatnot. Plus this is the only baseball forum I use
  5. I already said in the past I am not new to baseball in the sense that I know the rules but I didn’t actively follow it or the angels until 2018. So I had a lot to learn about stats and contracts recently
  6. I just found out about this site recently in 2018. I thought it would be a good place to grow my baseball knowledge. Actually I learn a lot here and enjoy reading your opinions(all of you guys’ opinions) on the game
  7. I already explained myself on that one. One of my friends referred to Trout as Kingfish so I just rolled with it
  8. I really only posted about stat based stuff and free agents because I spent a lot of time this offseason learning those stats and friends helped evaluate those stats and what they meant. I still have trouble evaluating trades and farm value hence the really bad trade proposal I made. I never posted about certain ex Angels players you guys bring up because I know nothing about them. If you think I am B.S. go ahead that’s your right.
  9. We could conceivably wait to see where Realmuto lands and see if it displaces a catcher that makes sense to trade for
  10. Also Grandal might want a somewhat big contract in terms of length and cost is a draft pick. I don’t know if I view him as a longer term solution. Realmuto or Perez may be the best long term pieces but they may cost too much in prospects. Why not just trade for Alex Avila who is only making 4.25 mil in his final year and has a higher career obp, caught stealing percentage and fielding percentage than Grandal and address catcher again next offseason?
  11. How much would we have to give up to trade for Salvador Perez?
  12. He had a decent season last year. 9 million seems like overpay but at least it’s just a year. Can start and relieve which can give the team some flexibility
  13. I read about Arte’s history of demanding bad contracts and trades. Do you think perhaps because of the results he is a little gun shy now
  14. I recall reading somewhere that Barria’s catcher, said he was good at making in game adjustments. The pitching coaches he worked with said that Barria seems calm on the mound and doesn’t get rattled easily.
  15. You know what? It would be really cool if Harper was a realistic option. Trout, Harper, Ohtani, Upton. That’s a ton of power. But I know Harper is too expensive and some think he is rather overrated but still one can dream
  16. I recall reading somewhere that Barria’s catcher, said he was good at making in game adjustments. The pitching coaches he worked with said that Barria seems calm on the mound and doesn’t get rattled easily.
  17. I wonder why Avila didn’t get too may at bats last season. I couldn’t find anything about injury other than that the manager sat him a lot. His career obp is pretty good and he has a good caught stealing percentage at catcher. As for Kole, how would you propose the team gets a new right fielder?
  18. Skaggs is the current ace right? He’s ok. I guess he’s border line ace but not a true ace. He needs to stay healthy and take the next step. Any chance the Angels can add Keuchel or Kikuchi. Wonder how Ramírez, Tropeano and Pena will fit in. Like the depth the team is building but they need healthy arms.
  19. I came across an article that shows comparisons of Harvey’s delivery in New York vs his changed delivery in Cincinnati. The article said his average velocity jumped from 92 to 94 and that he touched 97 a few times. Take the article for what it’s worth. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.beyondtheboxscore.com/platform/amp/2018/6/22/17491990/cincinnati-reds-matt-harvey-mechanical-adjustments-fastball-velocity-slider-movement
  20. I had posted earlier about taking a gamble on Harvey as a dumpster dive move because he had somewhat improved in Cincinnati but 11 mil is certainly not what I had in mind. That’s too much for someone who might not stick in the rotation. Hopefully he is willing to be utilized from the bullpen when needed.
  21. That's the price range I had in mind too. I could see him setting up, but with his veteran experience, I wouldn't mind him closing some games. If the Angels go with another closer by committee, his veteran experience would be nice to have. Holland's stats improved in Washington because he relied more on his fastball rather than slider. This is a Nationals video/Holland interview explaining on how his stats changed from his time in St. Louis:
  22. Does it really matter if someone is high octane or not? As long as they can consistently get outs is what matters the most.
