  1. The biggest reason trout will stay will probably be out of loyalty.
  2. Who knows maybe Kole will be the spark plug the Angels need?
  3. Not to be the bearer of bad news but if this is what Trout is thinking than you probably do not have 2020. For a couple of reasons. Trout will already have made up his mind. And the Angels may already try to trade him with value intact instead of doing it the "Machado" way. And if that is the case than even if the Angels get to the postseason in 2019..... is Trout really going to be swaded by one year of marginal success when the track record as a whole suggests otherwise?
  4. even if the Mariners get to the wildcard game I doubt they advance very far. They also will not have Cano for the whole postseason.
  5. Curious on these analytics are they factoring in the double whammy negative potential of a ground ball double play? And also are they factoring in these are done normally when a team only needs 1 run.... so obviously it does deter from a bigger inning.... as you have 1 less out to work with. I am just asking because I really have never researched the analytics on it.
  6. If this year goes bad and the Angels lose a lot than the manager is definitely gone.... otherwise if this season did not matter than they would have done an extension before this season started.
  7. Don't forget about Bard who had a 1.55 ERA except for the one game in Boston.
  8. Very true. Baseball players tend to be like that.
  9. You deserve credit for one of the best posts of the year.... very Nostradamus like.
  10. Thank you for someone being rational..... sometimes I enter angelswin.com and I think I am entering the Twilight Zone.
  11. I am usually not one to throw anyone under the bus..... but seriously if the Angels want to get serious about winning they need to fire there medical staff & there strength & conditioning staff. The season is not even half over and this year alone we have lost how many pitchers to TJ.... Ramirez, Ohtani, Wood, Middleton. And why does Meyer need 2 years to recover from a 3-4 month surgery & recovery time injury?
  12. Not really studies have shown the opposite that if they go under the knife once there propensity to go back under for a 2nd time is greatly increased.
  13. Also at the time of the trade last year Darvish had a losing record with an ERA over 4. Big Big difference between that and a pitcher with an ERA of 3.21. The difference is league average to one of the best ERA's in baseball for a starting pitcher.... there has been a lot of CY Young winners who do not have an ERA of 3.21.
  14. we will have to agree to disagree. No worries. But to say that because someone has already had TJ surgery that they are now immune from it again is not correct.
  15. before his injury today if he had won 15 games sported an era of 3.21.... yeah I think someone would have ponied up $100 million.... take a look at past baseball contracts for starting pitchers. You guys act like they grow on trees. How much have we paid Richards for the last 3-4 years with all these injuries when we still had him under team control. We are paying him $9 million this year to win 4 games. In the last 3 years we have paid Richards $24 million to make 25 starts. As far as trading Richards under the premise of he was healthy and sporting the era of 3.21 that he had at the start of today...... to only think we would receive a "B" prospect is laughable.
  16. It seems like a lifetime ago when the Angels were 13-3.
  17. At least now the Angels will not be extending him and costing themselves $100 million.... or at least I hope they wont.
  18. It would have been nice to get something for him while we still could. I do not understand why they thought he would stay healthy. He has never had 1 full healthy season in the majors.
  19. Yeah... right. So we are paying the guy $8,000,000 a year to sit his butt on the bench. If the plan was that than why would Valbuena have even signed with the Angels? This is a guy who 2 of the 3 previous seasons before signing with the Angels had 132 & 149 starts. The other year he was injured.Spot starts.... really? He was injured for a month last year and still played in 117 games. So basically when he was not injured he played 90% of the time.
  20. It kind of was the plan though. Injuries are part of the game and to be expected. It's a long 162 game season. If they were not planning on that than that is silly. After all they kept Valbuena over Cron because Valbuena is such a stud defensively at 3b & 1b. They had less injuries than they thought they would so they shipped Chris Carter off to Minnesota for cash considerations.
  21. If Trout does not want to extend..... than the angels will have very very little leverage. We will be very lucky to get a fraction of what we could get. The longer it goes the less leverage & value the Angels will receive.
  22. It's just not realistic. When Griffey was traded from the Mariners to the Reds the Mariners received Jake Meyer, Antonio Perez, Brett Tomko and Mike Cameron. At the time Griffey was doing everything Trout was doing..... although minor differences Griffey was hitting 50 HR's a year every year and every year was winning a Gold Glove in CF. Griffey had a cannon for an arm.... Trout has not a very good arm. But Trout stole more bases. Griffey had speed but the Mariners did not care for stolen bases. If Trout does not extend than I hope we get a good package of prospects and free up money to spend on 2-3 stud free agents. Most likely Trout will be an Angel for another 10 years..... and maybe for part of that put up Pujols like numbers.
