Costeiu slowly makign his return from Tj, went 2.2 innings 3k and was on a pitch count.
Fastball up to 95 , Slider looked really good didn't see much of his other pitches. He is another arm to keep an eye on in the minors.
Pre-surgery
His fastball ranged 92-95, where it was today. His change was the outpitch, it'll be interesting to see how his off-speed develop this year.

looking like Rengifo and Sano could be back int he line-up by next week (Rengifo friday). Rengifo should slot in the 2 spot, flip Calhoun and Ward, and than Sano after him, Should hopefully strengthen the line-up.

Regarding Bachman, when he comes back and if he's fully healthy, I am putting him in the Bp as a 1 inning guy.
joyce has basically zero command and that is not what we need. Honestly I would recommend that he dials down on the velo, instead of 100, maybe be around 95/96 and see if that improves his command.

One notable aspect of the minor league club is the impressive patience exhibited by both Placencia and Ortiz, resulting in high on-base percentages. However, their batting averages low. Could this be do to excessive patience, or are they focusing on particular aspects of their game? Given their youth, there is still for them to turn things around.
Also what happened to Rios? dude's bat was suppose to above-average, yet he sticks and hasn't played in a while

I do think the focus shoudl be on the Best Player Available! If JJ is available at 8, I think you have to pull the plug and take a shot. He has the chance to be a 5-tool player!
I also think that they should focus on the offense side d/t to the lack of offensive upside in the system. I am happy with the pitching depth that Is coming up and this draft has some really good college offense bats. You could have guys like Amick, Sirota, Thomas all available with the second pick.

He's essentially Heaney 2.0, resembling Heaney in the sense that he pitches as if he's throwing in the upper 90s, when in fact it's more in the mid-90s. What he truly needs to focus on is incorporating all of his pitches, pitching to all four quadrants, effective inside pitching, and utilizing the curveball more frequently in the early stages of the game.
Honestly he needs to learn to pitch more like Montgomery, instead of trying to over power hitters with his fastball/slider.

One significant factor that sets us apart from top teams is the lack of effective analysis, utilization of technologies, and understanding of the data provided by these technologies. For instance, while watching the Orioles and Blue Jays game, the broadcast team invited a member of the Orioles' technology staff to discuss their methods. It was an interesting discussion as he explained how they employ cameras to assess bat speed, swing path, and even analyze their leads off base.

There are certain times when you do the squeeze play, this was not one of them! You had a guy that was struggling with his command and basically gave him a free out. That atbat could have ended up as a BB and it;s a tie game, with a chance at a big inning.

I think you also have to consider the fact that Soriano hasn;t started in such a long period of time due to the injuries and it was a last minute change to have him start.
For Skenes, I remember the broadcast mentioning that he has been on a pitch count in the majors (75 pitches) and he was in his 80s in his forst start.
Honesty I would Soriano around the 75 to 85 pitch range for now.

I might be wrong but I only saw Detmers throw less than 10 curves the entire game. Which is a big no for him. If he's going to solely rely on his Fastball and slider, he's going to Heaney 2.0. I honesty don't really understand why he doesn't throw the curve more, it a plus-plus pitch. He needs to cut down on the fastball, throw more curves and pitch to contact with it.
Ideally, he should start the games of with his fastball, Curve and Change. This way it give him enough speed difference in his pitches, and than by the 3rd inning start adding the slider to his pitch mix.
If he going to start of with hard-stuff, the leagues will adjust and look for the hard stuff, especially the 2nd and third time around the line-up.

As to be expected, Fangraphs isn't so high on the Angels farm, or as rosy on Rada or Dana as Angels fans are.

Honesty FG used to be really good on with their prospects ranking. however they have fallen and reading their scouting reports, it seems like they at best watched a few games or innings.
1. They've mention Rada looks overmatched, however he's been hitting over 300. Similar to last year where he started off slow and than took of.
2. Dana, they really game his an 50 grade fastball and have him at 92 to 95, and they clearly haven't watched him. Yet, watching four of his starts, he is easily sitting 94 to 96 and getting it past hitter.
3. kent, I would say his fastball is more of an 55 grade pitches with potential to be a 60 grade pitch. It has a lot of movement and sink on it. His change- up has also taken that next step and has some good drop and sink.

Will Suarez get DFA after today?

At least we got those 6 starts from giolito
Hey, it's a bad trade looking back. But, at least we were not the team that traded Yordan Álvarez for Josh Freaken Fields.

Times to get some runs back!

I missed the last few minutes, though I did hear the announcers talking about how Soriano looked annoyed at a missed strike call. From looking at Gameday Live on MLB.com, it doesn't look like any of the balls called this inning have been bad calls. Am I just missing something?
Didn't really any bad pitches/missed calls nor did Soriano looked annoyed. He just lost his command, plus even the split that was thrown to O'neil was not a bad pitch, just really good hitting by O'neil. The 2 walks hurt him.
-
Great Soriano just lost feel for his pitches....
-
Adell keeping it simple and Neto getting hot at the plate!
-
I am glad that the pirates did not keep Soriano and decided to return him to us!
He has front of the rotation stuff! The split and his knuckle-curve are plus pitches.
-
Never doubted the line-up!
-
Men that 3 and 5 hole.... I'd rather have Adell and Ohoppe in those holes and let them figure it out.

Guys that we should trade
* The one-year Bp arms (package them with the bigger guys)
* Anderson and Ward (trade them while there values are high)
* Drury (this M'f needs to start hitting the ball, and than get packaged with Ward)
Consider trade, if it a nice return or keep
* Rengifo
Assess trade Value
* Sandoval
* Canning

What’s the smart thing to do with Anderson?

Sell high on Anderson, he the one one player that has a year left of control and needs to traded.
I'd hold on to Canning and Sandy, unless there is an offer that you can't ignore.
