or we can go even more wild and just do a top 8 team in each league round robin and see who is number 1 on each side to meet in the world series, I'm only kidding of course
It does look good on paper but that contract of Stanton's is making me grind my teeth. If he only had a few years I'd say yes but having him until he's 38?? What if he contracts Pujolsitis when he's 34
Between Bridwell and Lackey, there's one thing that's better about Bridwell then Lackey, he doesn't have that shitty temper that John has that makes him get tossed from games. Other then that Lackey was good.
I don't know why I had the impression he was a switch hitter, may have been thinking of someone else, but still we need someone who can run around the bases that's quick. We tried with Maybin and he was a bust with a bat and had glass for bones.
I would also toss Griffin out there since he's been very loyal to the Angels for 17 years but him not being a first base coach for them would seem unchristian. As for Maddon he has a lot of fire and could breathe life into this team but would he be willing to come back to Anaheim remains to be seen. When I first started watching the Angels he was the first base and bench coach. I wouldn't mind seeing that #70 come out of the dugout yelling at these stupid umps for bad calls.
I agree with Arch, Middleton can be a good bp arm once they fix his location. He has done well lately, maybe that injury he had was just what his arm needed because now he's in there for more then an inning and still looks good.
I'd rather see Middleton as setup next year the way he's ending his season. Since September 3 he's pitched 11 Innings and given up 7 hits / 0 runs / 3 walks and struck out 12 guys. A little more work in the off season and he may be really good next season.
