Right now, Trout is like the leading AL MVP candidate. Yup, once again, he's on the list with a .342/.463/.649 slash line. He's due to heat up at the plate again at some point so I could see an OPS around 1.200 in a couple of weeks. Another great candidate is Cole. He's the only starting pitcher on the Yankees that everyone trusts. Kluber has been inconsistent this season but he's coming along lately. Severino has been an All-Star a couple of times but still hasn't made his 2021 debut yet. Taillon, Montgomery, and German haven't put up solid numbers this season. Take Cole out and the Yankees might not be a .500 team right now. Having that star starting pitcher like Cole has its effect on the starting rotation and bullpen. More rest for the bullpen should mean a more effective bullpen. Right now, it's Trout or Cole as the MVP front runner in the American League with guys like John Means and Bogaerts in the hunt.
