I love the way this board jumps to conclusions... adding Beckham doesn't mean someone else is going... he could just be added depth. Or... maybe they're cutting Howie's leg off and transplanting it onto Garrett's body so that he can make his next start.

I enjoy this board, but I have no idea what's acceptable and what's not. I know something was posted a while back about a new set of expectations or rules or something, but as far as I can tell - nothing has changed. I'm not complaining mind you because I have the option to ignore what I want to. I just really don't know what you can or can't do.

Rob Neyer isn't a very talented writer, but his posts have a lot of intangibles... they stir the pot, they give other people looking for a career in sports journalism hope, and they're good for a laugh or two - even though that's not his intent.

Neyer: "All my gut tells me is that skill will be less important than luck, down the stretch." This is a cop out... and his built in excuse when the A's fail to win it all. We'll hear this "The Angels were lucky" - just like in 2002. Not that luck doesn't play a role in baseball, but to summarize a team's success or failure with the term "lucky" is just weak.
