  1. I hate the A's.  I hope they fail, but I am no longer surprised when the team does better than expected.  I don't think you can judge the A's until they have finalized their roster and I doubt that's happened yet.

The fact that the A's were absolutely terrible after June is the reason Beane is making changes.  I get that.

  2. So then why sign Butler? Makes zero sense.

    You should read the article...

"We sort of took what were our best assets, collected young players, and, as a result, we were sort of able to redeploy the payroll," said Beane. "That was all in January and February. There is a lot of the offseason. The benefit is we could conceivably have some savings to reinvest. That's the balance we're trying to walk. What we're not going to do, trying to do, is reduce payroll. That's a product of some of the trades we may make. The flip side, if we see available guys who can help us in 2015 and 2016, we're going to do that.

"In some respect, that's what Butler was. It was just early. It wasn't that we sort of switched gears after that. We were always going to want a guy like this, a right-handed hitter who hits in the middle of the lineup for three years."

"This is how it is here," said Beane. "Every time we've done it, we're trying to be proactive. You have to be realistic. It's not necessarily just a reflection on our team, but also recognizing who your competition is.

"Look, in the second half of the season, starting in June, we had one of the worst records in the game, and we lost some very critical players, guys who are going to get a lot of money. You lose those guys, you couple that with the trend line of the team performance, you talk about the division … you have to take all those things into account and realize when the time to do things is. If you wait too long, you cost yourself a number of years."

  4. Did anyone watch the Discovery Channel's "Eaten alive" - It didn't live up to it's billing.  The guy was not eaten by a 27 foot anaconda.  Instead, he rolled around in the mud with it for a little while.  What a joke.  Twitter exploded with disappointment when it was over #eatenalive.

I keep falling for these stupid shows.  Like the giant shark one called Megaloldon.  Another bust.

  5. I've been to Fenway twice and it didn't smell like urine to me. The fans were just fine and although the seats were small - I like the uniqueness of the ball park. I even took a tour.  Every time I've gone, I've managed to get up on the walk way above the Green Monster which is a cool experience.  I'd gladly go again.

  6. I've been to the following (in order of favorites):

    1.  Fenway

    2.  Kauffman Stadium (under-rated, IMO)

    3.  Petco Park

    4.   AT&T

    5.   Wrigley Field

    6.   Safeco Field

    7.   Coors Field

    8.   Chase Field

    9.   Angels Stadium

    10. Globe Life Park (too big)

    11. Old Yankee Stadium

    12. U.S Celluar

    13. Dodger Stadium

    14. Shea

    15. Candlestick Park

    16. Metrodome

    17. Oakland

I've also been to the King Dome and Jack Murphy stadiums, but not for baseball games.

The concourse at Chase, Petco and Safeco are very similar in design and feel.

I really do love Petco a great deal even though I ranked it third.  I make it a point to get there at least once a year.
