  1. Love him or hate him, Scioscia is, imo, the best manager the Angels have ever had. I would however like to see a change but not just for change sake. I'd like to see someone from within the organization or perhaps a former Angel player or coach as the next manager. Just throwing some names out there: Erstad Percy Ebel..(I know he's a former Dodger but he's been here a long time) Wally Joyner Bobby Grich Jack Howell Bengie Molina Jose Molina
  2. Don't worry the front office will bring in the calvary to save us just like they did the last couple of years. They care about putting a good product on the field for the fans that support the organization.
  3. The team from Mexico gets more attention here than team USA! The whole soccer thing is a mystery to me. I get that it's popular in other places but geez..
  4. I know what you mean, I just can't get into soccer. I actually tried to some years ago but it just bores me to death. I'll never understand soccers popularity.
  5. Nothing, and I mean nothing is as slow as a soccer game. Baseball is played at the speed of light compared to soccer. You could sit there all day at a soccer game waiting for a team to actually score. That's why I don't buy some of the reasons that have been floated about speeding up baseball and it's impact on attendance. Soccer is (next to hockey) about as boring as a sport can get. At a hockey game I get sleepy just watching them skate on and off the ice every 5 minutes and pray there'll be a goal before it's bedtime. "Hey, ice the puck", "put some head on it". lol
  6. I have a friend that has had season seats at Anaheim for a couple of decades and the last five years he's had to sell off close to half of them because he can't afford the seats anymore. And as you said some of those games are a tough sell. When you add in $10.00 or $8.00 or whatever for a f'n Coke it gets to where I feel that I'm being ripped-off. I had access to the Diamond club at one time and it was $50.00 a plate!!!!!!!! Who are they trying to kid? $50.00 for some potato salad and piece of chicken? Take your wife and two kids to that a couple of times a week. lol No more.
  7. I think it's pretty obvious why baseball attendance is on the decline. Just go look at what the kids play today, they don't play baseball anymore like they used to, they play soccer. When I was a kid (I know a long time ago) no one played soccer and all of the fields were busy after school with Little League practice. It's literally hard to find youth baseball anymore. This has been happening for many years now with baseball is losing it's youth fan base little by little. Then factor in what it cost to actually go to games now and it's no wonder why attendance is suffering. People can talk about the mound, lack of offense, stats, etc. baseball is losing it's fan base because there are just other things people like to do. They'd rather sit at home and play computer games or bury their face in their smart phone waiting with baited breath for the next text message!
  8. The cost of the games has definitely changed how many games I attend.
  9. When Trout cools off there could be even more losses than there are currently. The Angels have gone 3-7 the last ten games with Trout being on fire. I could draw a map?
  10. Mike Trout is currently on fire leading the league in almost everything and we're still losing (3-7 the last 10)..what's going to happen when he cools off. If the bullpen isn't addressed the Angels are going to have a hard time winning 84 games. Hope I'm wrong but that's how I see it.
  11. I agree that it's technically not true, however with our bullpen blowing 1 or 2 games a week and needing to win 51 of our remaining games to get to 90 wins, we need help from other teams to catch Seattle. Without Seattle losing to some other teams it puts the Angels in a position of having to win most of the games we have left with them and to go at a minimum of .500 with the rest of the league. The key is, at the very minimum with Seattle playing 1 game under .500 the rest of the way the Angels have to win 51 of their remaining games to get to a 90 win tie with Seattle..imo, with the current bullpen that's not likely to happen. That's why I said we don't control our own fate..we need help from the rest of the league or forget it! If the Angels catch Seattle at the end of the year and make the play-offs I'm sure Lou or someone else will bump this up. lol Hope I'm wrong Strad but I think the writing is on the wall..the Angels have already played themselves into a very bad position.
  12. After just 74 games the Angels have put themselves in a position in which they have to rely on others to help them..the Angels fate is already out of their own control! Normally I'm pretty optimistic but this season has really tested me and 90 wins probably isn't going to cut it anyway. Almost everyone knew when the season started that our pitching staff had quite a few question marks yet the organization did next to nothing to address it.
  13. Here's the problem Strad..the Mariners have won 46 games to date and they have 89 to play. If they go one game under .500 the rest of the way they will win 90 games! So are we better than previous years if we won 90 games? I suppose that would be accurate, however will it be enough to make the WC? It doesn't look like it unless Seattle collapses and the Angels start winning a lot more games. The Angels have won 39 games and they have 89 to play. In order for them to get to 90 wins they have to go 51 and 38 to get to 90 wins. The Mariners have to play a game under .500 for the Angels to tie them! If my math is right and with the bullpen blowing a game or two every week it doesn't look good.
  14. That's what it's really about AO, Scioscia knows Bedrock has been stinking the place up but he isn't going to say so in the press.
  15. I said almost the same thing at the beginning of the year. There was no way some of those guys that were coming off of TJ surgery were going to pitch a lot of innings. That's why I was adamant about acquiring a #1 or #2 starter early on. The pitching was always going to be the achilles heel of this team.
  16. This is completely false..the Angels have made plenty of changes but for whatever reason they haven't worked out. Either the players under performed (see Kinsler until recently) or the holes were filled with marginal ML players or minor leaguers that weren't good enough (Cowart etc). Everyone assumes that some guy in the minors (like Cowart or Fletcher) has to be better than what we have but the fact is the vast majority of minor leaguers fail! So you don't like Scioscia and you don't like the players that have been plugged in. BTW..you thinking my comment is "stupid" doesn't carry much weight..sorry.
  17. Yeah we'd be right there contending with Houston if only Scioscia had better line up management and started putting our good players in everyday. lol
  18. IMO this really needs to be Albert's last season as a player for the Angels and the only way that is going to happen is if the Angels bench him or buy out the remainder of his contract. Either way Albert will get what he signed for. I'm not going to pretend that I know what the Angel organization needs to do going forward but what I do know is that not many organizations could have been able to contend with the amount of injuries that we have had this year and the previous two. There wouldn't be nearly the negativity here had our luck not been so bad. The final blow has been losing Othani. There's only so much that can be absorbed and our farm system hasn't been up to the task of helping with the injuries and other needs. I'm afraid it's going to be another long season.
  19. If the Angels really want Albert out of the line up they'll have to eat the rest of his contract. He's not going to quit, he'll sit on the bench and collect before he'd leave all that money on the table. Unfortunately Albert was paid for the great years and success he had in St. Louis. His Angel career has paled in comparison and wasn't worth the money but it is what it is.
