  1. Morin was suppose to be the Angels seventh inning guy until he blew up at the tail end of last season. With Smith on the DL, maybe he can fit into the step up role.
  2. The acquisition of Huston Street and Trevor Gott (who turned into Yunel Escobar) might be one of the greatest heists of all time.
  3. In 3 2/3 innings I've seen enough. Buy him a one way ticket to Salt Lake City.
  4. Joe Smith is the sixth Angel pitcher to be placed on the disabled list. They've got a pretty impressive staff on the DL.
  5. Albert is also 12th on the All-Time home run list with 572. He' one behind Harmon Killebrew and 11 back of Mark McGwire. He could be in the Top Ten by season's end.
  6. Lincecum struggled in the first inning against Reno: Four runs (two earned), three hits two walks and two Salt Lake errors. After that he slammed the door. He proceeded to retire 14 of the next 15 hitters he faced. He threw 95 pitches (59 strikes), mostly in the 88-91 mph range and will hopefully make his final minor league start in Fresno on Sunday.
  7. Pujols is a Hall Of Famer and when it's all said and done, he'll give the Angels a Hall Of Fame Season.
  8. Fortunately for the Angels, it's a marathon not a sprint.
  9. Arte Moreno chose Mike Scioscia over Jerry Dipoo in the front office power struggle last summer. I hope he's happy with the results.
  10. The way Angel pitchers are dropping, both in the rotation and in the bullpen, just about anybody who can throw a baseball reasonably accurately should be a help.
  11. I hate to admit it, but I was a Los Angeles Angel PCL fan back in l950's when they called Wrigley Field their home. Was a short time Dodger fan when they invaded LA. Became a full time Angel in the late '60's and the rest is history
  12. The outfield has to be Tim Salmon, Mike Trout and Vlad Geurrero. Garret Anderson deserves consideration. Around the horn it's Rod Carew, Howie Kendrick Jim Fregosi and Troy Glaus. An argument can certainly be made for Albert Pujols. Four-fifths of my starting rotation will include Dean Chance, Nolan Ryan, Chuck Finley and Jered Weaver. The bullpen starts with Troy Percival and Frankie Rodriquez. The catchers are Brian Downing and Mike Napoli. Don Baylor is the designated hitter.
  13. Love the sight. It's a great way to interact with Angel fans.
  14. Matt Joyce was a keeper. In 49 games with Pittsburgh this season Joyce is hitting .324 with 6 home runs and 22 runs batted in. One of those home runs, was a 3-run shot that beat the Angels on Saturday, 8-7.His on base percentage is .467 and his slugging number is an impressive .662. Daniel Nava, Gary Gentry, Rafael Ortega, Shane Robinson and who ever else the Angels have put out in left field together can't match those numbers. Apparently Don Baylor and Dave Hanson couldn't figure out what Pirate coaches Jeff Branson and Jeff Livesey have discovered this year.
  15. Maybe I'm alone on this one, but 36-year old Luke Walton's first permanent head coaching job should NOT be with the Lakers. His credentials? An assistant with the University of Memphis during the 2011 lockout, player development coach with Defenders and two years as an assistant with Golden State. I'll give you that he started the season with a record 24 straight wins, and had a 39-4 record when Steve Kerr returned. But any marquee free agent will want to play for a veteran coach who has experience and has been successful. The Lakers could have hired Tom Thibodeau or Scott Brooks who both carry impressive resumes. Former coaches Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson were also available. So they selected Walton, and that may very well turn out to be a disaster.
  16. It is one of the unwritten rules in baseball. You aren't suppose to bring your closer into a tie game. Closer's come in with a late inning lead or in extra innings on the road to preserve the victory. Last night Scisocia summoned Houston Street to pitch the top of the ninth in a tie game. Despite going against the odds, it all worked out. Street put the Tigers down and C.J Cron homered to give the Angels an unorthodox victory.
  17. This is what the Angel offense needs. They need C.J; Cron to hit a consistent .275, power 30 balls out of the yard and drive across 90 teammates every year. With nights like last night, Cron could really solidify that No 5. hole in the lineup. Maybe opposing pitchers would be less likely to pitch around Albert Pujols if Cron is in the on deck circle. Who knows? Albert might actually get some balls to drive!
