  1. Hey, did the Halos just discover the 2 run homer? We may be unstoppable now!
  2. Alex Rios (KC) is in 4th place on the Outfielders list, with 3,952,551 votes. Trouty's got 5,944,068 in second place. Trout could pretty easily fall to third place (Alex Gordon, that paragon of men, is right on his heels at 5,581,096), but actually bumping him would be tough.
  3. Yeah at this point there's no reason for Trout to risk getting injured playing for the Royals. Might as well decline the offer.
  4. Let's find out if he can play left field first.
  5. Y'all are acting like he's the worst player ever to take the field. He's not even the worst player on the current roster. (Edit: By which I mean, even if what he did today is what we can expect going forward)
  6. Well the 3b alternatives were Pujols or Iannetta. But now that Kub's here may as well take an extended look.
  7. The only way order matters really is protection. If the guy on deck is a scrub, you don't need to throw strikes to the guy you're facing now. Literally anyone other than Pujols behind Trout, and Trout doesn't see a strike while a mans on base. But you have to protect Pujols too. That said, Aybar is protected by Trout. And is lousy. So yeah, it's rearranging deck chairs on the titanic but I'd be ok with Johnny G getting a crack there. Also didn't Aybar actually bat cleanup at some point this year, or am I getting a contact high again?
  8. My point was that's the upside if he actually ever does figure it out - in a good year he'd still be feast or famine, just with slightly less starvation. He'll never bat .300. Unlikely he'd even bat .250. Best case scenario still isn't that great.
  9. Cron is absolutely worthless as long as he's a 4A player. And he can't be anything other than a 4A player at this point until he either becomes a former player, or learns to hit big league pitching. Unfortunately the only sensible thing to do with him is play him, try and get him the reps to figure it out, and hope he learns to adjust. Green is _almost_ getting to the same boat though. I think Green has more upside, but it's a close call - would you rather have a .230 hitter who hits 25 homers, but strikes out 160+ times and has no glove, or a .260 slap hitter with no power and a barely serviceable glove. I'd rather have the OPS and versatility, but what I'd REALLY rather have is both of them go on a tear at the same time, then package the both of em in a trade for someone who can actually be a regular starter long term.
  10. I know it doesn't matter, that 3 run lead is insurmountable, but really - Featherston as a PH? For anyone? We've got, what, at least a dozen guys in the bullpen who hit better than him.,,
  11. Did we ever officially find out who it was?
  12. If you ever get cryogenically frozen, go to a game between the New New York Yankees against the Tijuana Angels of Industry.
  13. I'm gonna give the Boston boys in blue a bit of a pass here. They're not solving a crime, they're collecting the evidence for the massive lawsuit that is to follow. The fact is, there are 2430 major league games every year, not counting exhibition and post season games. And I can't remember the last time someone suffered a serious injury due to a flying ball or bat at the ballpark. I'm sure it must have at some point, because that's why we have the existing netting behind home plate everywhere. The reason it's rare for _players_ to be hurt this way is because of the lack of crowding on the field - same reason it's rare for a baserunner to be out for being struck by a batted ball - the angle has to be _perfect_ to hit them. But the stands, especially in the good seats near the bases at field level, are usually densely packed. Anything that goes in that direction has a decent chance to strike someone, in the head, neck, or upper chest.
