  1. Angels have an option for 2017 for 7 million with 1 million buy out per baseball reference.
  2. I would think you play Escobar at 3rd. For all the hate on Johnny, he was a 1 War player at league minimum and had almost a .700 OPS. That's fairly valuable on a team with budget constraints due to poor contracts. I wouldn't look to upgrade 2B until LF is solved first.
  3. Yunel even in his career year last year was worth 2.0 WAR. He only makes 7 mil so he's really cheap. Depends on what the Angels gave up before I like this trade. EDIT: Saw that it was Gott. Not too upset, you can find decent relievers. He has good stuff but his K/9 rate is REALLY low. His ERA is 3 but his FIP is near 3.75. His underlying stats scream league average reliever.
  4. I'd like to see the Angels go after Alex Gordon, exactly the type of bat and LFer that the Angels need and would probably be a bit cheaper to sign.
  5. Well people in general don't like to discuss numbers.
  6. Nope, but I did play roller hockey in high school and got hit in the face by a puck, during a pick-up game. Ever play with anyone that made the NHL?
  7. I saw the game, Ducks played well and got chances, but Bishop was a damn wall.
  8. Oh yea, there's some loan forgiveness programs and such. I should look into those things. So what you're saying is she's almost 18, thanks! J/K As her father, you should definitely talk to her about interest rates and credit card debt. Make perfectly clear that credit cards should be used for emergencies/last resort if she doesn't have the cash. Also discuss the difference between a need and a want. An example I remember in college that they used was a purchase of a 100 dollar item and just making the minimum payments it took FOREVER for the balance to be fully paid off. I don't know about your daughter, but I was pretty broke growing up and I hated it, so I didn't spend much money in college and still pretty stingy today.
  9. What incentives do you speak of? PM me if you wish. If you're talking about the grants and stuff, I haven't taken any yet as I don't really need it. I made the mistake in college in going after the money and now 10 years later, I'm pretty miserable. I could do that, but when I first attended CSUF, they made us go through an orientation, they did a good job of warning us about credit cards. It's really amazing how people just don't understand the concept of not spending what you don't have and the difference between a need and a want.
  10. Wow very surprised at the number of teachers in this forum. I too attended CSUF, BA degree with a concentration in Accounting. I also have my CPA and can sign off on audits. I'm leaving the industry to become a math teacher and am half way done with my credential. The reason I'm leaving the corporate world is because the corporate world sucks. Long story short, I made some really bad decisions regarding my career and have numerous gaps, I worked with numerous recruiters giving me conflicting advice on everything for my job search. I've had a lot of temp jobs with no benefits that is below my ability level. Frankly, I got sick and tired of employers paying less and less for more and more. My high school had the IB program but I did not do it, but had friends who did. It was very very tough. I was told that a lot of colleges don't accept AP/IB credit to skip classes. CSUF accepted my AP tests that allowed me to receive credit/skip classes. Although I agree with CaliAngel's sentiment regarding CSUF, I would also say that college is what you put into it. If you work hard and strive for good grades and challenge yourself then you'll get more out of college.
  11. 31 million per year. Wow, I remember back when Kevin Brown signed that 7 yr 105 mil dollar contract. Inflation.
  12. I always thought that as well when he was a prospect. Like yea he has a great glove and high contact/plate discipline numbers, but he wasn't a masher that you normally expect from elite 1B prospects. His ceiling was a better version of Mientkiewicz.
  13. I thought he hung it up. I remember when the Angels traded him to the Braves for Texieria. Boy were people ANGRY about that trade at the time.
  14. I was going to post this, Koreans from Garden Grove and Irvine/Tustin would come in droves to watch him play. Otherwise, I think he could be a Shin-soo Choo lite type of player.
  15. I just remembered something, Aybar was basically terrible the last few games of the season with routine grounders and making errors left and right. Did Mike wanted him gone?
  16. I wasn't old enough to remember to watch Ozzie play in his prime. Looks like I received a second chance.
  17. He wasn't a very good hitter last year, now he's going to the worst hitter's park for right handers. Have fun with that Mariners fans!
  18. Aaron Hicks was traded to the Yankees, some suggest that Gardner may be available. If that's the case, I really hope the Angels get him, he's exactly what the Angels are looking for.
  19. Please NOOOOOOOO!!! EDIT: Of course the Angels sign flawed players after great small sample sized performances.
