  1. Did something happen to Paris (other than him being unable to actually hit the ball, I mean)? Otherwise, why call up Guzman? Even if they move Arol Vera to 3B to replace Fontenelle, where is Guzman gonna go? Unless they make HIM the 3B? Plus, he has a 4/28 BB/K ratio at High A. Not exactly an indication he can handle better pitching at the next level. Hope I'm wrong!
  2. If you're getting a good recent 1st round pick, maybe that changes the equation. If it's a Wil Wilson-type deal (in reverse, since the Angels would be the ones taking on salary, obviously), still a no for me.
  3. Taking on bad deals, even if they come with assets, is absolutely not what the Angels should be doing when they have $75M+ committed to Rendon and Trout for next year.
  4. Rocket City and Tri-City got rained out today. Salt Lake scored one run; their roster is laughably bad at this point. IE got shut out and they've now scored the fewest runs in the California League. I still can't find any update on Fontenelle. Guess it might be a little while longer before we hear anything clear, given how severe the injury appears to be.
  5. So quick update here: Anderson is currently hitting .218/.259/.245, for an OPS that's 78 points lower than where he ended up last year. Here's his profile. Laughably bad.
  6. He signed a two-year contract, and it's not like next year is going to be any better. I imagine Moreno isn't going to want to pay two managers' salaries for what will likely be another bad year. I could see him quitting before I could see Moreno firing him, but I'd say either is highly, highly unlikely.
  7. Yep. And I'm sure someone will chime in and claim that's because the Angels get guys to the bigs faster, etc., etc. Cool. The team has still consistently been mediocre-to-sucky for a decade now, so it's clear that even the guys they're getting to the majors faster aren't collectively enough to truly make a difference. And, yes, I understand that strategy is a recent trend, but as I've said elsewhere, you basically can't miss with any of those guys if you're employing that strategy--especially when your other picks have been mediocre at best and disastrous at worst.
  8. Yeah, I just assumed that's what would happen--and probably sooner rather than later.
  9. This is a few days old, but still kind of amused me.
  10. I was wondering how long it would take someone to chime in with this take. If anyone wanted him, they could essentially have him now for free. I highly, highly doubt a) that anyone is going to sign him, or b) that even if someone does sign him, he's not going to have any significant trade value later in the season.
  11. Shouldn't be a big deal, though who knows with the Angels injury history.
  12. Yeah, but the Angels won three against the Marlins!
  13. Given that you "yelling at clouds"-ed me and I "dumb"-ed you, it's an easy assumption to make.
  14. Angels are now 9-22 against teams that aren't the Marlins. Marlins are now 9-23 against teams that aren't the Angels.
  15. Pinch-hitting Pillar for Moniak is exactly the type of thing Washington should not be doing in this shitshow of a season. Might as well give Moniak as many ABs as he can get against lefties. Who gives a shit if Pillar gets a hit in that situation?
  16. I think he's ok. Then again, given how this season is going, he and O'Hoppe will both end up being out for about a month.
