Even if that were to occur, the Angels would still have to eat a large portion of the contract and it would still be unlikely that they'd get anyone of real value in return.
As for me, my comment had nothing to do with the $ reference in the post I was replying to. I just don't know why anyone would "feel bad" for Washington at all, unless the Angels openly misled him in terms of what moves they'd make in the off-season. Otherwise, it's on him for making the decision to take a gig running a team with huge issues.
Exactly. I don't feel bad for him at all. And for all the talk about what he was going to bring to the team, what the focus areas for improvement would be, etc., there's not a ton of evidence that he's making much of an impact yet, other than possibly on IF defense.
No one is going to take his contract for any sort of deal that makes any amount of sense for the Angels. I don't know why people can't understand this.
In theory, Rendon to the 60-day, though they probably won't do that this early. If they send down Soriano, they'd still have to make another move to clear space on the 40-man.
They don't need 5 OF, and, yeah, just more IF coverage if Sano's injury lingers. Though, as I just said in the Gameday Thread, Washington said Sano was available to at least hit tonight.
Also, Washington just said in the post-game press conference that Sano was available to pinch hit tonight, but not play defense. So guess they won't be IL'ing him.
