Yeah you're exactly right to bring this up, although I think Cimber has one more year of arbitration.

Perry's inability to utilize fringe prospects and young players under team control in depth and low leverage situations is killing the organization.

You have to have an Andrew Wantz or Austin Warren or Oliver Ortega getting Hunter Strickland's low leverage 6th inning outings.

This isn't negotiable in team building. Nobody else is doing this shit that the Angels are. The lower level of the roster has to have guys who are working on moving into filling in the middle or top level of your roster.

This bullpen has absolutely 0 long term upside, and its currently in about as bad of shape as you can imagine.

I don't think Cimber has another year of arbitration. He was a free agent.

  2. 5 questions in the wake of Trout’s latest injury:

"Trout is one of the greatest baseball players any of us have ever seen. But the problem is that we don’t get to see him nearly often enough. In the wake of this latest setback, here are five questions that arise about Trout: About his future, his legacy, his team and how we’ll talk about him for the years to come."

@jsnpritchett when you watch the game what do you watch/see? Just the outcome of the at bat? Or, the opposing hitters at bat?

I watch our hitters setup, stance, in at bat adjustment if one is made? I can tell if their over thinking an at bat like Adel swing to k in the 9th he was looking slider down then had to adjust to a fastball up and he couldn't catch up to the velo high in the upper part of the zone.

Watch the defense if we shift then the pitch sequence, if the pitches called would be effective to get the hitter to hit into your shift. Did the pitcher execute that pitch or sequence successfully?

And I watch the pitchers mechanics including landing, release points, including if they're rushing through their mechanics, landing on their heal, ball of the foot, if they spin off, and then location which may/May not effect the pitch location which works for or against the sequencing and the defensive alignment..

That's what video is good for. You learn a lot by watching the game and breaking it down to its simplicities, intricacies and outcomes.

I would be bored if I just sat their and waited for outcomes... It's also hard to understand why things happen if you do that. Slumps, ineffectiveness, a decrease in abilities etc.

I have no idea why you're singling me out and lecturing me.  Was it just because I said I thought Merrifield would have been a pointless addition to the team?

Because he plays many positions and we are deep into our borderline depth the 1st day of May.

Right, but he's not any good anymore.  Him being on the team wouldn't be notably better than Adrianza, Calhoun, etc., etc.  They're all washed up.  The team absolutely does not need someone like Whitfield, who has no future with them beyond this season.

  5. Somehow, Kyren Paris has gotten worse as the season has gone along.  He's now "hitting" .076/.171/.121.  How is that even possible? Lol.  33 K in 66 AB, too.  Ugly.

Also, at what point do we just concede that Kochanowicz isn't gonna hack it as a starter?  He got bombed again today.  And for a guy who supposedly has great stuff and a very good fastball, he sure doesn't K very many.

Kristofak making it to the majors and pitching in a game was a great story.

But if we go strictly by results/stuff, he didn’t really deserve a call-up. He got called up because the pen was taxed and they didn’t have any other options available to get a fresh arm that could provide length.

So I think him making it to the majors, playing a game, and getting DFAd is a lot better than the alternative of potentially never making it to the majors.

I was joking.  I know he was called up simply because of being a guy who was available in that moment.
