  1. They caught the guy that murdered the University of Utah football player. https://www.ksl.com/article/50254594/man-with-violent-history-arrested-in-shooting-death-of-university-of-utah-football-player "According to court records, Buk was convicted in March of failing to stop at the command of police. In June 2020 he was convicted of robbery in two separate cases — including one in which he robbed a father and daughter at gunpoint — and was sentenced to three years of probation." So armed robbery gets him probation and 14 months later he killed a person. Nice.
  2. I understand the Bagram angle but my opinion is with too little troops and hundreds of thousands of people fleeing, that canceled out the strategic advantage of Bagram. Trump left 2,500 troops in Afghanistan when he departed (something I supported). Let's say that was how many troops were left in the waning days of our presence there (Biden probably withdrew more). With AT least 100,000 people trying to escape, could our troops handle being outnumbered 40 to 1 while at Bagram? That's an honest question. I really don't know. On the surface it just looks like we were overwhelmed. Like I said, the Afghan government is who I hold responsible in the end. Biden has his responsibility but the situation has more depth than that and this whole thing was twenty years in the making.
  3. Trump had troops die under his watch and so did Biden and they both had months of no U.S. deaths. The Afghan government was corrupt and their military didn't want to risk their lives for them thus causing the country to collapse forcing hundreds of thousands of people to flee and overwhelm what little troops we had left. I don't think using Bagram would have helped in the end but I'll defer to @ten ocho recon scout on the that. Let's just be glad it's over.
  4. I get what you're saying but the only problem is the Taliban was still targeting Afghan government forces even after our peace deal with them and ISIS was already in the country. Our troops being there wasn't deterring any of that. Warfare has just changed over time and some strategies work in certain parts of the world but don't work as well in others. It was just time to end it.
  5. I'm just glad we didn't leave any troops there. That's what Trump started and that's what Biden finished.
  6. tdawg was obviously joking. There are some pretty tasteless things said in this forum but for the most part, I think people understand it is all in good fun. You got after him for the joke and then it kind of died off. When Chuck posted again, you went running to him to tell on him. Which is kind of funny because Chuck didn't care and knew he wasn't really serious. No one ever accused a person in this forum for being a class act and we hope to continue that pattern.
  7. Meh I don’t have a problem with McCain the veteran. He did some noble things. It’s just too bad that McCain didn’t come home and leave behind the one that became McCain the political war monger.
  8. To be fair, there’s no proof Trump said that. He definitely disparaged all POWs with his remarks when going off on John McCain. Insulting the military I thought was forbidden but if you become the nominee, people have the incredible ability to look the other way so easily. Trump, like most politicians, is a narcissist, even more so than others. They really struggle with sympathy even if they put on a show. I have no doubt some can be genuine but I don’t put Trump in that category.
  9. People need to focus more on going to class and trying to get laid in college. Not sure what happened in the last fourteen years since I last went but priorities seemed to have changed.
  10. There are thirty less pine nut farmers in the world because of Trump. But maybe it was God's will to prevent them from killing us and our kids in the future. Or so I've heard.
  11. Just to answer that first part, I think when Chuck let us know about it, it was last year before the vaccine came out. If I remember correctly.
  12. I think a guy that used to post here (not a whole lot) passed away from Covid. @Chuckster70 mentioned it last year. @RePLAYwas the username I think he went by.
  13. I agree with this. Trump's inflammatory personality just made it an easy target (and telling people Mexico was going to pay for it just made it worse). While I'm 100% in favor of a secure border and only legal immigration, the wall was never going to be a one size fits all solution. The border wall you mentioned (2006 border protection act) was a bipartisan effort but the wall itself wasn't much to write home about (I believe we spent a quarter of a billion dollars on repairs and the thing still looked shitty). Trump's wall has already had cartels cut through it, lowest bidding contractors do sub standard work with the foundation in some parts, heavy monsoons do damage which requires some parts of the wall to be left open to allow flood waters to pass through it, thus defeating the purpose of the barrier. You have terrain issues as well as private property to deal with. It just isn't as easy as "build the wall." He was successful in getting 450 miles built and Biden should maintain that but we'll see. I still haven't found a source of Biden tearing it down like was claimed. When all is said and done, you need a combination of barriers, technology and personnel to secure it (as well as stopping companies in the U.S. from encouraging illegal immigration). And of course, reminding our neighbors to the south to help. Some of those things Trump did accomplish. I'm glad Biden is turning the Haitians away but he needs to apply that evenly across the board for all trying to sneak in. But I doubt it will happen.
  14. I know he stopped construction but I haven't found anywhere that he was tearing parts of it down. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/4337994001 Do you have a source for that?
  15. Well you got part of your wish. Those seven kids will never threaten your freedom again.
  16. Did I say terrorists didn't exist before that? I said "creating more terrorists".
  17. The last four presidents have done a great creating more terrorists.
  18. Good thing I'm not a lib. Oh and that article you posted kind of re-wrote history. The irony is lost on you.
  19. Redondo's article was about NK starting up their nuclear program again (the word "again" isn't accurate because it is something they never stopped doing under Trump and continue to do so under Biden). The aren't launching missiles right now though? So what is there to do? Trump didn't stop them so why should Biden? To be honest, I agree with Tank that Biden could talk with Kim. Maybe even strike a deal but what is the point? In this highly partisan country, it will be just be slammed and criticized. And then revoked under the next president. Tensions will increase. People will say that NK was never abiding by the deal (and they would probably be right knowing Kim's character). Oh and Redondo,we can still talk about Trump because not doing so isn't providing a full context of history and if there is one thing I know, we don't want to appear as if we are erasing history.
  20. If you can't trust a guy who kills people with anti-aircraft guns and then feeds whatever remains of them to his dogs, who can you trust?
  21. From what I understand, he never stopped his nuclear programs while Trump was in office.
  22. They never stopped working on their nuclear program so this is no surprise. What would you like Biden to do? Go to war?
