I don't know about special at all. I think they're about what Fangraphs win projections had them at; they're a team that could win 84-86 games. They're definitely scrappy and annoying for opponents. I saw that early in spring training with all the come from behind wins in games that didn't matter. They've had some miracle comebacks already, some heartbreakers too that could have been wins. Things are about how they should be. I wouldn't say they're anything special where they exceed expectations and win 95+ which would be "special". But there's some magic for sure, when you lose the guys we have to injury already and have Bud Norris closing out games without much problem...

Nah, he'll be offered top dollar before he hits the FA market. Maybe he signs it, maybe he doesn't. But they'll make the offer. My guess is it's 10 years, $400M+ and has some creative structures in it we've never seen before. It will seem like a bargain after Trout and Machado sign wherever they end up, and there's a chance he'll stay. Things are breaking right for us to be able to do it. Yankees will tie up a ton with Harper and their current core. Phillies won't be any further along than us, and won't be able to offer more; we will get first bite at the apple. Los Angeles and Boston have guys like Seager and Betts to worry about on similar deals. If a handicapper was going to cap this now, the angels would be the favorite at 60% -140 with all the other teams having a sliver of possibility and being a + number.

Fans would not turn on Trout as some have Pujols. Also; there's nothing that suggests that Trout ages like Pujols did or has. Trout is his own entity. You look to lock him up and you don't stop until it's done. Never stop.

I have been lurking for a while but this has been on my mind; more and more every day. I am actually optimistic Trout does re-sign with the Angels. It's going to be a matter of does Arte back up the brinks truck. And why the Hell not? Trout is worth a $40/M a year, 10-year contract tacked onto the current one that runs until 2020. Offer him that; I bet he signs it. Offer him some team ownership in retirement or something unique. Get it done, whatever it takes. This is the one exception to the rule that goes beyond just on the field performance and "how will be be at 38" and all that dumb jargon. Sign him, dot he best you can around him. Stop worrying about the rest now and just make it priority #1 the only priority to get him locked down. The rest we will figure out. I have a feeling that Billy Eppler thinks he's going to get it done too. Just a weird feeling.

Trout loves hitting at Yankee Stadium

Whole lineup needs different construction. Trout is a three hole, obviously. Pujols can hit clean up or where ever. He's not a three anymore. They won't change it but it would make us better instantly, trout creates more runs.
