  1. Isn't he worth something like $80 Million a year based on WAR? There's so much extra value in him that $40/year doesn't seem at all unreasonable. He's possibly going to go down as the greatest player in history. You want him wearing your cap at all times. . . . .But I don't think it's going to be an issue of money. You've got to appeal to his comfort, and his desire to be a one team player. Move his entire family out here and give them all jobs, in-laws included.
  2. The Giants tried to throw money at the aging lineup this year and it didn't work. If they choose to rebuild what would you trade to get Bumgarner?
  3. The Angels just announced a Sosh Bobblehead night for the last night game of the season, September 29. I think this is pretty clear indication of the end of his tenure
  4. @Blarg, you sure know a lot about Guardians of the Galaxy. . . .
  5. I had some extra time at worked and I was feeling inspired by the Angels Double-A affiliate's new name. So I worked these up for fun.
  6. tdawg wants us all to know that he's totally fine with making tired, racist jokes but he doesn't want anyone to think he's insensitive.
  7. On the Baseball Tonight podcast Buster Olney and Keith Law insisted that the Angels must sit down with Albert this offseason and end his time with the Angels before a new manager starts http://play.podtrac.com/espn-baseballtonightwithbusterolney/c.espnradio.com/audio/3541479/baseball_2018-08-30-112319.64k.mp3
  8. FWIW Chuck, when I saw they are playing in St. Louis next year I thought the exact same thing.
  9. I assumed that was the accepted spelling here because of all the talk about vaginal injuries.
  10. As the game started the first thing my wife said was "Oh, they can hear us. We could truly heckle them." We couldn't really hear the players talking but if an argument started with an umpire I'm sure we could have heard most of it.
  11. Angelswin.com please consider this my application to receive a photo pass as your representative.
  12. A dream of mine is to sit in the photo well at an MLB game. On Saturday I received last minute notification that our family was being invited into a dugout suite at Angel Stadium. This being the closest thing I've ever had to that opportunity I took my camera. We've been going through some brutal family stuff lately and this was a total godsend and a respite from the storm. I shot all of these from behind the screen with a good camera, it's no where near the quality that sports photographers use, but it still did a decent job (Canon 60D with the stock lens for camera nerds) I thought you guys would be able to enjoy these with me.
  13. This is in part why I posted the poll. While a ton of people are going to be rejoicing over the Scioscia news; the impact of a manager needs to be put into perspective. Ned Yost LITERALLY thought he wasn't allowed to use his three bullet-train relievers until the 7th inning in 2014; he still took his team to WS Game 7.
  14. If you had to choose just one, who would you prefer to still be in their current role with the Angels in 2019?
  15. You say "he's fired"; I say "his contract wasn't renewed". . . Mike says "I'm stepping down".
  16. Never keep a manager around more than 10 years. He's a good manager and he'll do well wherever he ends up. Girardi, Ausmus, Mattheny are all a strong "NO". Just because you know their names doesn't make them qualified.
  17. I don't understand why anyone thinks these anti-shift rules will work. The fielders will just start running into the shift as soon as the pitcher starts to deliver the pitch. Watch an NFL team run a zone blitz, it will be the same thing. You won't have the extreme shift but you'll still get 90% of them.
  18. Saw this suggestion from Rany Jazerli: Move the mound back six inches to decrease velocity and then slightly deaden the ball the account for increase in home runs; resulting in more balls in play. I'm fond of the electronic strike zone and trading draft picks as well.
  19. Trout's interview skills are really getting better
  20. That is one of the best interviews ever extracted from Trout.
  21. I'm a collector as well. I have all of them. I've found ebay to be the best place. But I did get a great deal on the Trout 5K on Craigslist. There are also a bunch of bobblehead groups on Facebook. They're great for trades. https://www.trout.la/complete-list-of-angel-stadium-bobbleheads/ And yes, the tickets for bobblehead games have all been really expensive this year.
  22. What's the timeline on Shoemaker? I know his exploratory surgery turned out to be a positive and they found the problem. Is he out for the season or just until July?
