  1. Guhle has wheels, had one of fastest skating speed records in AHL allstar game skating speed competition. A big boy with wheels.

The STL pick is #20 on http://www.tankathon.com/nhl so we get the #20 pick as of right now but that could change.

Interesting about having #20, one of best players available at the #20 to #25 range is Mortiz Seider RHD from Germany, 6'3 in height & plays a strong defensive game & has more offensive upside than Josh Manson. German Josh Manson. If his Slapshot is any good he could earn the nickname Moritz Howitzer.

Or if they want a forward a guy like Pellettier could be available there but Seider might actually be Best Player Available at that spot despite RHD being a position of need as well.

  2. Maybe Murray is tending to his son named Cam Fowler about a trade their about to make sending him to Montreal/Detroit/STL/Colorado.

Thats the teams highest paid Dman locked up long term in a 8 year deal. Moving him clears a ton of cap & injury risk.

Then you have Henrique who's overpaid but if you go full tank you don't need Henrique for next year as Getzlaf/Cozens(Or Dach/Turcotte)/Steel/Rowney/Kesler is enough

Shore is making 2.3 million this year & next year so they could dump him on some team for a 2nd rounder.

I am hearing Henrique is getting a lot of notice right now.  Of course he's one of our best players.  But we need to start moving players.  Personally for me, the list of who to keep is shorter than who is available. Getzlaf.  He still produces.  Rakell.  Still young, still cheap, still the future.  Henrique.  Veteran center that is cost friendly and signed for a while.  Kase, young speedster.  Ritchie.  Ducks.  Yeah yeah, but that Rico line is just amazing, why break up a good thing.  Cough Marroon on the Getzlaf line.  Gibson, duh.  That is all.  But we should keep 2 of Fowler, Lindholm, Montour, Manson.  And of them, I think Manson is the one type of defensemen we don't have so I'd lean on keeping him.   Where Fowler and Montour of the possession/speed/shot type.  Lindholm is just soft trade him.

Lindholm is not soft, in fact he drops some very nice hits often, the softest on the D has been Fowler for many years now who rarely drops a hit on someone & breaks down despite never playing physical.
Fowler has been crap on possession numbers this year despite playing with Manson & getting alot more offensive zone shifts than Lindholm.

If you took a peak on HF Ducks forums you'd see that Gibson/Lindholm are among the assets the Ducks will never trade.

There everyone has posted the advanced stats, metrics & eye test from every fanbase & they all know Lindholm is the Ducks most valuable player on the Defense.

If they are going to trade a Dman it'll be the 27 yearold Fowler, he has a risky long term contract that could become very hard to move in a few years & at this current rate that could be next season.

@Pujols4MVP Good.  Let them take Lindholm for picks and prospects.  Just IMO, while Lindholm plays a fairly solid D.  That's about it.  He can't carry the puck out.  And while he plays D, its a soft D.  He can't muscle players off the puck.  I can't think of the last time I've seen him muscling someone out from in front of the net.  And he can't muscle players on the board.  Everytime I see him on the boards, he's getting taken advantage of.  And speed, he's about average.  I think he looks better, because he has Manson doing all the dirty defensive work.

Lindholm plays with Montour. Fowler/Manson has been a thing.

What about Fowler, his game is massively worse than Lindholm right now & he's older by 2 years. Fowler is the softest player on the team, and still gets hurt even though he avoids playing with an edge, he can't do anything on the power play, he can't produce offensively anymore for a guy who can't play a shutdown role.

  5. When the Kings play the Ducks in April near end of season will the Ducks fans be rooting for the Kings to win & the Kings fans rooting for the Ducks to win cause of Hughes ?

The Freeway series: Who can Tank the best !

0-0 game goes into overtime with the following 3 on 3 OT lines:

Kings: Thompson - Scherbak & Phaneuf

Ducks: Kesler - Eaves & Dotchin.

  6. I got a hunch that Fowler or Lindholm is going to Montreal. Montreal's GM has been scouting the Ducks last 3 games.

Marc Bergevin & Bob Murray were talking at the 2016 draft, Fowler was once rumored to be going there.

Fowler age 27: 0.37 points per game this year (0.48 last year, big drop from last year). 1 point in his last 5 games.

Lindholm age 25: 0.43 points per game this year (last year was 0.45 so he's offensively produced about the same during a bad seas.on) 3 points in his last 5 games.

Fowler CF% 42% & being used in offensive zone starts 47.5% of the time.
Lindholm CF% 47.7% & being used in offensive zone starts 39.7%

Hampus is being used so heavily in the defensive zone & his CF% is still higher than Fowler.

Looking at other teams forums, everyone is low on Fowler & high on Lindholm. Not many want their team to cough up much for Fowler.

  7. Ok so based on Point% the Ducks would draft #6th overall

but they could sink to getting the #3rd overall which allows them to draft Cozens who is a fast, big & skilled Center.

Potential 2019-20 forwards if both Kelser & Eaves are LTIRetired:

    Jones/Getzlaf/Rakell

    Ritchie/Turcotte or Dach or Cozens/Kase

    Terry/Henrique/Perry

    Shore/Rowney/Sherwood

If they land Turcotte or Dach they could move Henrique in a trade & promote Steel to the 3rd line Center role.

If Perry were to get demoted to the 4th line by coach Eakins, they could call up Comtois to replace Perry on the 3rd line.

It's hard for me to imagine mlb adding a team in a small market with a stadium capacity of 32k.

plus, an expansion draft would suck if it happened right when we were getting good.

Now that you mention the expansion draft they will probably want to do a Vegas Golden Knights type expansion draft where everyone gets screwed over & the Portland team ends up being better than more than half the league. Hopefully MLB owners are more sane than NHL owners & will vote down any draft that gives Portland too favorable of an expansion draft. It wouldn't be fair to teams who were added in the 1990s that didn't get the expansion draft that Portland may end up getting, so they ought to keep the expansion draft rules the same as when they last added a team.

  9. Thankfully this team knows how to draft or they would turn into the Panthers/Hurricanes & the Samueli's wouldn't care, they don't give a F about winning anymore, they just want playoff births & division titles.

I really wish Arte would buy the Ducks under the condition the team has to stay in Anaheim for the next 100 years & he can't get in the way on how the team is run & he cannot downsize the scouting staff but he can fire coaches.

You also have to factor in his potential ability to contribute defensively as a full time position player. The DH adjustment is severe and he probably has the talent to be an above average outfielder which could net him a couple more wins.

Imagine Ohtani as a future RFer, i could see him leading the league in OF assists at RF. Pretty much teams would stop trying to stretch a single into a double if its hit into RF.

Don't forget that Portland has the NBA Trailblazers, who do just fine as far as I know. I'm guessing that a lot of Portlanders would enjoy going to see a baseball game in an ironic sense. Especially if the team embraced the "Portland Weird" persona. Possible names:

    Portland Swallows

    Portland Lumberjacks

    Portland Queers

    Portland Booknerds

    Portland Lattes

    Portland Microbrews

    Portland Hipsters

    Portland Voodoo

    Portland Strippers

Lumberjacks ! All the men in attendence at the games will be dressed like Lumberjack Hipsters.

  12. I really like the Cogliano for Shore trade, the Ducks could still trade Shore to dump the contract on someone else for a draft pick & effectively gotten themselves out of the horrible overpaid contract that was Cogliano so the money can be spent elsewhere.

With Silfverberg, If a team only offers a 2nd + prospect they might just re-sign him instead esp if they are able to dump shore somewhere & then trade Silf next year when he can bring in a higher return.

Because he can't really compete anymore, and is hurting the team.

“When that time comes, it’s not even going to wait until the offseason,” Pujols said. “If I feel it during the season, I’m gone, dude. The day that I feel like I can’t compete in this game anymore, it doesn’t matter how much money I’m going to leave on the table. I’m done, bro. I’ve been blessed...

Good thing Pujols is not like Ryan Kesler who plans to play out his contract even though he's been done for half a season now.

Pujols will get some time to prove he can play while ohtani recovers.  Once ohtani is ready to go I trust ausmus to play bour or pujols based on performance.  If pujols rides the pine perhaps his ego pushes him to retire.  Not every vet can be comfortable with a role like Reynolds has thrived with.

Pujols to Eppler: "This Ausmus guy not respect me & won't let me play, i am going to retire now"

Eppler to Pujols *while trying sooooo very hard to not smile*: "We are...sorry to hear that...you were...a big part to our team"

5 minutes later after Pujols leaves Arte brings in champagne to celebrate Pujols retirement.
