  1. He was on Miami Vice, nuff said. RIP
  2. B, you talking about The Dissident? I had it last year as well and thought it was solid but I have had more sours lately so I would like to try again. Unfortunately I don't think they make it every year.
  3. I was hearing the rumors that Alpine had reached an agreement to up production. Smog City got off the ground by using the brewhouse at Tustin Brewing. It is cool when like minds can help each other out and envision more than just mere competition. Drake's Triple Hopped Swap last night was ridiculous. Nothing better than a mellow IPA on cask. Well, maybe a few things like bacon but it is right up there nonetheless.
  4. HD, saw that as well. Should be pretty solid
  5. Mom is in? Let me make sure I am free now, I may have a conflicting engagement....
  6. I got a table and tent to use. I may bring a keg of Dudes Double Trunk if Jeff can hook me up again.
  7. I agreed until I had Wolf Among Weeds. Also, if they really are trying to sabotage other breweries they could go **** themselves. Tony Yanow is very much the guy who spurned the craft movement in LA and it would be really sad if he is connected to such antics.
  8. In and Guli, it was the only day that really works without us getting DUI's.
  9. Golden Road has gained a pretty bad reputation due their original release of beers being underwhelming and some tactics that other local brewers are accusing them of. If the latter is true, I will blackball them but for now I have to give them some credit as they have revamped their line with a new brewmaster. Have any of you had any of their beer? Point The Way was bad at first but now is pretty good. Wolf Among Weeds is legit as is Heal the Bay IPA. Their Golden Kolsch is also awesome.
  10. MT, It is not comparable at all. I wont even get into the facts because I think you are quite aware of them. African Americans can keep playing the victim if they want but it will not solve anything. Everyone is focused on this one case but the reality is there is a much deeper issue within the black community that must be confronted if actual change will occur. The question is are people willing to incite change through activism or did they just want to see someone "hang" for the death of a child? Here is a great quote I read from Murs of the bay area hip hop group Living Legends. "I'd like to say what most are not. I am angry with the black community and the hip hop community. How can we expect the world to respect a "black life" when we all sing a long to songs that say how little that life is worth? Kill a nigga this, **** a bitch that etc... Our music and the way we represent our selves in the media. It honestly scares and disgusts a lot of people in America. Middle and rural America especially. It's NOT the media's fault. We really do kill each other over little to nothing. I've lost friends because of it. I've been on a major label and no one is MAKING these artists celebrate homicide and drug dealing. WE are at fault for celebrating and supporting this. Black people when we as a whole truly start to value black life, that's when we can expect the same from the rest of the world. Direct some of your anger towards the person in the mirror. And don't just take responsibility for your own family. That is a start, but what can you do to positively affect the rest of your community? Let's not use too much time demonstrating and protesting. Let's change these LAWS! And let's change this culture of greed and hate as well. Once we are civilized enough to police ourselves we will not need to rely on such laws. Peace has to be a verb. We have to act now. Please let's get passed angry and get to work."
  11. The single dumbest thing I have ever heard came from a response from a black lady due to the verdict. "Being black in America is like being Jewish in Nazi Germany."
  12. I am doing the following Saturday due to the event at the San Diego Historical Society with Alpine on Friday evening that I am attending. But yeah, the limit is no issue and will still be going. Head out that Saturday if you can. I will probably hit up a few different breweries as well.
  13. One of my local spots, I am there two or three times a week. I liked HM, not so much with SOS but I am not big on stouts. I like my beer big and hoppy usually.
  14. Beachwood Brewing Melrose IPA is now in bottles. Really good IPA, arguably their best beer.
  15. Went to Kern River on Saturday. Was near there for my grandfathers birthday so why not have some Citra? That beer is tough to beat, so damn good. El Segundo has bottles of their Citra and Two 5 Left 2IPA back in stock. Both are excellent.
  16. Went to Select Beer Store yesterday for the Drake Aroma Coma and Prieta release. Select Beer Store is an interesting place where you get gents walking in and talking about their month long vacations on their yacht. The owner and workers are cool guys but there is a level of pretentiousness with them as well as they brag about having the cleanest taps in Los Angeles. Although the more that I watch Bar Rescue, the more I appreciate that they are proud of that fact. Now on to the beers. Started off with a flight of Drakes: Denogginizer, Brown is the New Black, Aroma Coma and Aroma Prieta. Started with the Brown since it wasnt what I was really there for. Very good but not great and not what I wanted so I paid little attention and tossed back the Denog as well. When I moved on to the Aroma's I decided to start with Prieta. Its a very floral IPA due to the NZ hops, very smooth and clean but a bit of that floral taste resonates on the palate. What was interesting is how different the Coma tasted. Coma is its usual easy drinking smooth Summer IPA. Perfect for drinking on a hot day with none of the floral notes that were obvious with Prieta. As I finished the tasters I thought I preferred Prieta. However, as the night went on and the pints continued to pour I changed my mind. I give the nod to Coma but both are great and should not be missed. Next week at Mohawk I am looking forward to having each on cask and tasting the difference since they triple hopped the cask using the NZ Prieta hops in the Coma and vice versa.
  17. Look for Prieta at your favorite watering holes. You should be able to find it that way.
  18. Nice little write up on Noble's outstanding Naughty Sauce. So glad they got a new head brewer. http://www.westcoastersocal.com/tag/naughty-sauce/
  19. SD peeps, check out this event. I will be there, sounds pretty cool. http://www.sandiegohistory.org/calendar/historyhappyhours
  20. Prieta is not being distributed from what I heard. Aroma Coma was pretty easy to find last year. I would say the Hopocalypse is bs in all honesty. I havent heard of them brewing it outside of Feb. Interesting that they said that.
  21. Yeah, I made reference to Bell's entering CA possibly a page or so back. That would be a nice addition out here.
  22. He was drinking while writing, it happens. Here are some reviews of beers from last night. The Bruery Or Xata : 10/10 I was mad that I missed the pour at Beer Belly last month so I wasnt missing last night. Great cream beer. The cinnamon and vanilla are obvious and the damn thing tasted more like Horchata than beer and still sits in the 7's to provide a punch. Highly recommend. Goose Island Night Stalker imperial Stout 8.5/10 A bit of a beast right here at 11.7%. Not a chocolate or coffee flavor but more earthy (looked it up and the plums being incorporated surprised me. Not a huge stout guy therefore a little lower rating but a must have for stout fans. Goose Island Sofie Paradisi Saison 9/10 My style of beer as you can taste the obvious citrus backbone. Easy, light drinker. Really good stuff. The rest was meh quite honestly. Matilda, their pale ale, was nothing special and the Honkers English Bitter was much the same. Tonight it is off to Select for the release of Aroma Coma and Preita.
  23. Funny that we were talking about this yesterday and today there is an article. I forgot that the Knothole does have Noble but it has never been actually available the half a dozen or so times that I walked over and checked. I would be happy if I saw more Pujols HR's with meh beer though. The Angels, Athletics and Dodgers are striking out when it comes to craft beer. The potential these teams have to endorse and support local craft breweries while enhancing America’s pastime is amazing. Just think of how much better it would be seeing Albert Pujols, Brandon Moss or Matt Kemp blast a homer while you’re sipping a fresh pint of beer from a local brewery. http://www.beersinparadise.com/?p=15864
  24. Actually going to the Daily Pint tonight to give this a try among other beers of theirs. I know many say the Bourbon County is really good but outside of that we shall see. I don't expect much though. Also heading over to try The Bruery Or Xata. Blonde ale spiced with vanilla and cinnamon. Supposed to be their take on a Horachata.
