the wire was great. i binged it about 10 years ago grabbing rental dvds from blockbuster video.

tried to watch it recently and it hasn't aged that well, but collectively some really great tv.

I binged the whole Wire series in 2014 when i was staying up late with my newborn.  I liked it a lot!  Then I tried to watch OZ and I dont think that aged well, couldn't stick with it.

  2. I have one  that i havent even opened yet.  I have the NES mini too which my 3 year old is just starting to get the hang of so i will introduce her to the SNES soon.  im not super tech savy but i built an emulator out of a raspberry pi by watching a youtube video but i thought the games felt a little laggy and not all the controls worked correctly so i broke down and bought the NES instead.  I love it i just dont have much time to play, looking forward to introducing my daughter to Yoshi with the SNES.

Probably much sooner if Ohtani doesnt get it together at the plate.

This is a real Catch 22. Ohtani might need the consistent ABs that being in AAA would give him. But his pitching may be too good to allow him to be sent down.

I just dont know how one can remain consistent at the plate by hitting only 3 days/week. And some of those qualifying days could be against lefties. How has Ohtani's splits been against lefties in his career?

If he isn't cutting it at the plate in the big leagues can't we let him pitch a game for the angels and then send him down to AAA for 2/3 games between starts to work on his hitting?

That's what the weather forecasts said regarding the previous few alleged rain systems the past 2 months, all of which came in with not even a whimper thanks to the stupidly massive high pressure ridge over the eastern Pacific.    Is that thing ever leaving?

Since January 10, maybe a total of a quarter inch of rain

I drove down to SD a few weeks ago and noticed a wall of clouds off the coast.  Is that what you are talking about when referring to the "massive high pressure ridge"?  Because i had never seen this before and i grew up here.

maybe we need an emotional plea from someone who has had to deal with victim's of a shooting like this to wake up and get rid of certain weapons at our disposal that have no business being at our disposal in the first place.

clearly, there are certain guns that go beyond a reasonable application of the right to bear arms. the AR 15 is one of them.

I agree with you Tank.  I myself do not own a gun but that is only because when I was looking into buying one my wife vetoed that idea.  I have 4 friends that own AR 15s.  Only one of them has a military background.  They are all great gun owners who are knowledgeable and safe with their weapons.  However, it is easy to see the amount of damage this gun could do in a very short amount of time if it fell into the wrong hands. If my buddies need to give up their "hobby" so that less children die when a mass shooter has to take a hunting rifle/handgun  to a school instead of an AR 15 then I am all for it.  I wouldn't be for taking away all guns but the fact that the AR 15 has been the gun of choice in mass shootings lately also tells me that the  crazy murders see the advantages of it too.

My wife is a substitute teacher for the schools in juvenile hall/probation program and she was subbing in a class last week with 17 year olds and she said she saw two hard looking gang bangers holding hands under their desk.  She said "Made me think of that meme with the two guys in the tub together".

  7. I use an Iphone, ipad and apple tv but i can not bring myself to pay their price for a laptop.  I would rather pay $500-600 for a new dell/Lenovo laptop with the same specs as a macbook pro and when it turns to shit in a 3-4 years i just buy another one for a similar price.  Even after 10-15 years of doing this I havent spent as much as i would have if i just bought a macbook pro to start with.

Caddyshack, Stripes, Ghostbusters, Groudhog Day, Meatballs.

    Oh and Garfield.

I was surprised it took this long for someone to say Garfield!  My 3 y/o daughter has been obsessed with that movie lately!  The only non animated movie she watches.  It's still garbage.

    Terrible news for Eaves.

I don’t even know what to say about the Ducks.  Everything seems fucked.  Eaves was obviously penciled in as an important part of the scoring punch.

    Just shitty.

The only plus is that if Eaves is really out long term then we will get salary cap relief and might be able to add a substantial piece...  I'm trying to find the positive here.

Yep I've done the train along the coast a couple times when I didn't want to fly or do the road trip - it's slow but super scenic and they have a bar onboard. I think it was the starlight that is socal to norcal.

then right the zephyr will take you from sf northeast. i took it to tahoe once for shits and giggles. that f*cker goes all the way to chicago!

Yea when I was 8-9 my mom and I took a train from Fullerton to Chicago.  Took 2.5 days but it would be a lot easier trip these days with smartphones and tablets.  Gets pretty boring in the middle of the country and the towns we went through were mostly crappy.  If you can afford to spend 5 days traveling to and from Chicago I guess it is worth it.  The California route up north is way more scenic.

Fowler, Montour, Manson, Bieska, Beuchemin, Holzer.  That will be your six.  They aren't going to bump Bieska, we've seen that last year.  Beuch is coming to be with Carlyle, so they won't bump him.  And Holzer was just signed for 2 years, they won't bump him.  I hope I'm wrong, and they give Megna, Larsson, and Wilinski a shot.  But I've been following sports, especially in Anaheim, long enough to know that Veterans get a long look and benefit of the doubt over rookies.

You know 1-3 of those Dmen will be hurt during training camp/preseason/early season. so I am sure Megna or Larson will get a few games too.  Maybe the front office is still exploring a Vats trade and the signed Beauchemin as insurance.  Its hard to complain about 1 yr for 1 mil since depth is never a bad thing. Do we really want a situation like a few years ago where we have to give up picks for someone like Brewer?

  12. Went to Vegas this weekend and the casinos must be hurting for money.  My wife and I just stayed one night at Caesars Palace.  The room was really nice, I believe it was $209 for the night but they charge for everything!  There is a mini Keurig in the room but no coffee was included.  We were allowed to purchase a coffee kit for $13, not sure what was in it but the package was only big enough to hold 2 k-cups. Self parking was $12 a day, and they charged us for 2 days even though we were there for less than 15 hours.  They also charge a $39.99 resort fee per day even if you don't use any of their amenities. Is there a way to do Vegas anymore without paying $100+ in fees and bullsh*t for a 2 night stay?

  13. You will get the most value out of buying the used car.  It was probably a lease so it should have had all its scheduled maintenance and should be under warranty still.  If you do go the used route see if the dealer is willing to cover any regular maintenance for a certain amount of miles/years.  Leasing only makes sense if you want to get a new car every few years.  The one time I leased a car and tried to buy it at the end of the lease they wanted more for it then I could have bought a similar used car.  That was my experience.
