The mistake I wish everyone would correct is the misuse of the word “myself.”  It has essentially just replaced the word “me.”

”If you have any questions about the presentation, just contact Dave or myself and we will help you.”

No, it’s just “me.”  “Contact me. . .”

I don’t even get how anybody can get this wrong when the word “me” is so basic and easy.

”Myself” is a reflective word.  It is only correct when “I” is the subject of the sentence.

“I always give myself at least 20 minutes to get ready.”

“I view myself as a solid employee.”

“When I sprained my ankle I took myself to the doctor.”

Anyway, it’s a bit of a curse to notice this one because it is rampant and widespread and, for me, it’s cringy.  I kind of think people using “myself” in place of “me” think it sounds more intelligent or something.  I was at a college tour presentation and the presenter said something like “After graduating, this was clearly the best role for myself.”  This coming from someone selling the value of the education they got there.

    Nails on a chalkboard.

If I ask MYSELF how I feel about this post, I would say it was too long and possible pathetically boring.

So feel free to hit ME with the “lighten up Francis” meme.

Do we really need an English lesson?

There's something different about this team. Also to anyone who jumped ship prematurely go f***k yourself.

    God Damnit!!!!!

Fir several years we get ona streak.  Lead our division and then we start hearing. "This team is different"  "this team is special".  Then we go on and get crushed with injuries.

    Don't jinx us!!!

In case people do not know, that is sarcasm.

Yes it’s my view, but the fact that those guys are starting tells you it’s the teams view as well. It’s simply not your view.

So try to compete when its clear we are incapable to.  And destroy opportunities to see who can help us in the future.

BTW the teams activities in off season contradict your view.

And again, those guys could help this team get to the playoffs or they could play well enough to be traded at the deadline.  I have no idea if they will, but it is way to early to bitch about such things.

That is your view.   I do not believe that is the view of the front office bevause they could have easily signed another quality pitcher for help get into the playoffs.   They decided to stay put which is fine.  But they should be playing Adell and Moniak.

No he isnt. Its 4 games, if he outproduces his teammates, he will get to play. He hasnt earned a starting role at this point.

You know as well as anyone its hard to get a rhythm on hitting playing once a week.

If Sano or Hicks makes this a playoff team then its a smart move.  However, they don't move the needle on our playoff standing.  Show we should give consistent playing time to people who can help us in the future.

So you guys want Adell in the lineup over Hicks, is he supposed to play RF?

Or would he go to Left and shift Ward to right?

I'm probably the biggest critic of Adell on this board, but I kind of agree that it's his time to show what he's got. We need the young guys to start showing up. He should be in the starting lineup, and after 6 innings, let Sanó come in as pinch batter for him, and let Hicks replace him.

I would have Adell at FJ and Moniak in right.

It’s two games in and the team isn’t going to start a season by throwing in the towel and not put who the manager feels is the best equipped to help them win right now. As the season goes these line ups and the starters will evolve, we’ve seen that every year. If you ran a poll asking this website would you rather see a more set line up each night or have the ever changing line up we’ve seen for quite some time they’d ask for consistency.

If we are playing "the being optimistic game",  it is just as conceivable that Moniak and Adell out produce Sano and Hicks and make the playoffs

Than hoping for big bounceback years from Sano and Hicks and makes the playoffs.

IMO our chances of making the playoffs are the same this year.

The Athletic recently had an article, "The Aces Project", ranking the top 50 active starting pitchers in MLB (no Angels), with Gerrit Cole being rated the highest. Scores were tabulated based on a 20  person panel of executives, scouts, and analysts rating the pitcher on durability and performance on a 1-5 scale. It's pretty clear that the definition of a "#1", TOR arm has evolved quite a lot over the past 10-15 years, but the article made me realize that the Angels haven't drafted and developed a guy who you could argue is a true ace since Weaver. It seems like even when we draft someone, they usually come with a tag like "could develop into a mid rotation starter with #2 upside". Two guys would get an asterisk - Ohtani and Garrett Richards. Ohtani certainly has TOR stuff and results, but his status as a unicorn, the injuries, and the need for the 6 man rotation would knock him down a tier for me, plus he was playing professionally in Japan so there wasn't much "development" to be done.  Richards seemed like he was on the path to being the Angels next ace but the bad luck of the patellar tendon rupture seemed to cascade into endless injuries.  Outside of those two, I can't think of a time since Weaver that we drafted anyone that was expected to become an ace, and we certainly haven't molded anyone into that type of pitcher either.  The Angels do a decent job of producing mid rotation guys, but why no true aces?  Is this a scouting and drafting issue? A player development issue? Just bad luck? It's been nearly 20 years since we drafted Weaver.

I remember Weavers rookie year when so many argued he is a #3 at best.
