  1. It’s a rough couple of weeks here for everyone at AW. This was a really shitty one to hear about. I saw the thread a few days ago, but it was tough to put the emotional energy into writing something thoughtful. Happens when things keep coming at you like that. I generally call it “grief fatigue”, which I’m sure a lot of you have experienced before and are currently going through with the loss of @Lou and @Brandon All that said, I’ll remember Brandon fondly. I’ve been interacting with him since 2008-ish, though we’ve never actually met in person. Seemed like we had similar senses of humor and shared a lot of opinions about various things. It was also nice having a fellow dude with some KC connections on the board to chat with. Basically, though we never met, I always considered him a friend. Someone I could count on to respond when I asked some random ass life question, or had some sort of hot take on a movie, show, comedian, etc… This place always felt like a better hang in general whenever he was active. I don’t know what happened to him, and I suppose it’s none of my business really. I just hope he had the time to say goodbye to those he needed to, and that his candle burned out the same way he lived… bright as fuck to the end.
  2. The Mets crew did not hold back a bit. Lol. It was awesome
  3. I guess their owner thought it made him “sound cheap”. Again, just a super weird story
  4. Finding amazing new ways to lose baseball games every day
  5. Just a super weird story. This happened like ten days ago, but the announcer got suspended indefinitely apparently. Dude did nothing wrong. It wasn’t even particularly negative or critical. Apparently Angelos is just real life Kendall Roy.
  6. Shit @Lou, I had no clue. You’ve always been one of the best parts of this board. I’m sure I don’t adequately understand what you and your family are going through right now, but I hope you’re taking the time you have to squeeze every freaking ounce of the good stuff out of life, however that looks for you. Hold on to every bit of it you can. I don’t know what else to say other than I hope you’re able to choose how you want everything to go in the time you have left, and you can make the best of it for you and your family. You’re a real one Lou. It’s always been an absolute pleasure to chat it up here with you.
  7. It wasn’t revelatory or anything, but it was a really well-done movie with good writing and acting, and excellent cinematography. Well worth seeing in the theater.
  8. If it’s him getting AB’s instead of Velazquez I’m cool with it. But if it’s him taking AB’s away from Moose, Cabbage, and potentially Drury then I’d rather not.
  9. Who knows what this whole thing means in the long-term, but being a fan is all about moments. And yesterday was an all time great moment. I actually jumped up and screamed, alone in my living room, the instant he connected on that second HR. I know we have Statcast and all that, but as far as the eye test goes, that’s about as pure as I’ve ever seen a human being hit a baseball. Again, who knows whatever happens this year or next, but what happened yesterday was amazing, historic, and awesome; and now we’ve all got that as fans forever, and that’s pretty freaking cool.
  10. Sure, there’s some blame on the actual pitchers there. But Estevez and Barria never should have been used in the way they were tonight. There’s absolutely zero reason to do it that way.
  11. Just sort of assumed Estevez pitching the 8th meant he was in for six outs
  12. A reasonable point there. Just not used to the six out save thing
  13. Possibly true, and it worked out for now, but I still wouldn’t have done it.
  14. Not a big fan of pinch running for him there. Not a ton of speed gained for a whole lot of bat lost.
  15. No reason to rush that throw. Cool story for Cabbage on his first big league run though
